Do you know a show called Videodrome? It's just torture and murder no plot, no characters very, very realistic. I think it's what next?

Oh, and if you know what the main character does at the end of the film... He does become one with the tranny new flesh, oh and he also gets an axe wound during it.

That looks like a stink ditch. A festering stink ditch.

I don't know if Videodrome, filmed in 1983, was an intended metaphor for the transgender experience. That's more of a reach than the Matrix retcon.

It does raise questions. Like a lot of Cronenberg movies, it's the kind of disquieting thing you might want to have in your visual lexicon if you're going to be thinking about the body's place in society, the physical body and the self, and attempts to change your body on the physical plane.

However, every trans or trans-adjacent person I've seen talking a lot about Cronenberg movies has either been an edgelord or a blowhard. I'm not sure most of them have actually seen his movies besides clips, recaps and stills. There's a lot of AV media you can half-watch, but there are some movies that are best seen in a darkened theater without distractions, ideally late at night and at a time when you're already feeling mild baseline loneliness and despair. It's those kids and their damn phones.
