people have been speculating about who the antichrist is supposed to be since the days of emperor domitian

in the time of napoleon, people thought it was napoleon, schizos and theologians have put forward countless candidates, after ww2 people thought it was hitler, during ww2 people thought it was stalin

would the antichrist even be a person? maybe its a metaphor for AI, or the US government, or the vatican, or a satanic counter tradition dating back to before babylon

The description in the New Testament implies it's an individual person with preternatural abilities. It's someone who is supposed to convince people through their own powers to fall away from worship of God and faith in Christ in favor of themselves. Not just making people sin or commit apostasy.

The "head-wound" prophecy can just as easily apply to Biden's stroke as to the attempted Trump shooting. Biden, too, appeared to have a grievous head wound--one that is normally fatal. Yet now he reigns as Demnentia-King. The prophecies can credibly be interpreted to refer to Trump, Biden, or probably somebody else.

At the same time, when Antichrist does come, you'll have a chorus of "Christians" yodeling, "No, no! This charismatic political leader can't possibly be the Antichrist because of reasons x, y, and z." So if Trump is the Antichrist then the majority of people will nonetheless deny that he is until it's too late.
