Is "trad" an oxymoron?

Is it antithetical to tradition? Not necessarily. Also, seems like the term practically originated in the 1950s, so maybe it's even more traditional than other terms; I'm not sure how common its usage was in the US at that time.

But if you want to argue that it is an oxymoron, then it woulod be only for those who use it and claim to be, if I say it for example, it wouldn't (because what's breaking its original meaning of "traditional" would be the act of me saying it, not what I'm addressing as "trad").
