tor as a whole is not a honeypot and is not compromised as far as we know
read up on the silk road story, how they couldn't figure out who DPR was because he hid everything behind TOR. in the end they got him because he was careless and made opsec mistakes - he was advertising his silkroad site on the clearnet, using an account with a name that could be linekd to his IRL identity. that was how they found him, they never got through TOR.

Tor hides your ISP from sites you browse and prevents routine surveillance via your ISP.
However, your ISP will know you are using Tor.

But if a national government with global reach is out to get you personally, Tor will not help.

yes, the government might get a little suspicious of you when they see that you connected to [TOR Node #427]
but that's still a lot better than if they could see that you connected to [whitepower.org/racewar/pipebomb_assembly_guide.pdf]

But I'm not reading about pipe bombs, I'm reading about weird trannies on kiwifarms. The glowies might just suspect I'm reading about manufacturing weapons and treat my web traffic accordingly.
