I'm planning to take it soon, and the practice exams are disturbingly easy. Is it supposed to be? Or are they trying to trick me with easy practice exams and then making the real thing very difficult?

Solution
When I took the GRE, the Golden Rule was to take as many practice exams as you could.

The score I got on the practice exam I took 1 day before the actual test was the same as my official score.

The Quantitative part doesn't cover anything beyond high school geometry. When I took the test the Verbal section heavily focused on vocabulary. I understand it has since been revised to make it much easier and less vocab-centric.

Overall, if you can crush the practice tests, you will get a great score on the real one.

Depends on which education system youre from. As a pajeet I can say its very very easy, especially the math section. English might be a bit tricky cause American English education is very different to British English education so I dont know.

All the best bro

Which practice materials are you using to study? Are you using Kaplan, or a variety of GRE prep material? Z-Library usually has a good stock of GRE prep books, with 10 downloads per day on free accounts.

Make sure to practice your quants a lot more. The test-makers like to put in weird math questions that are slightly-to-moderately harder than the ones used in the practice exams. As with the SAT, one section will be experimental and will not be used to calculate your score.

There is a larger emphasis on reading comprehension rather than vocabulary (ie: being able to determine synonyms, antonyms, and the like to fill in the blanks in a given sentence) in the literature portion. Make sure to practice being able to quickly tell the main points the excerpts are trying to make.

For the writing part, the readers usually have 2 minutes to read your essay, so make sure to take 30 seconds to formulate how your essay will look (intro, argument, conclusions). They don't care what stance you take, as long as you put convincing reasons and write with complex vocabulary.

Also, keep in mind that some grad schools don't look at GRE scores, and require personal essays, a strong resume (ie: work experience related to the field), 2-3 letters of recommendation, and of course your undergraduate GPA.

On the test day, you will be given a single 10 minute break 2-2.5 hours into the test. They usually take time to check you in/out when you leave and re-enter the test room, so you better hope there's no line in the bathrooms. At the end of the test, you will be given options to send your test score (for free) to a few universities; if you choose to not send the score until you know what your final grade is (the two numbers for your lit/quant that are given to you at the end of the exam are not entirely true, as the result will be curved later), it will cost money. I think it's about 30ish days you have to wait between tests if you choose to take it again; there's no limit to how many times you can retake it, unlike with the MCAT.

All the best, mate.
