That thing is too bright, and the greens + blues being same brightness as the warmer colours make for a far colder light than I would desire - leading to me just keeping it turned off and using candles for cozy lighting instead.

Very autistic, but I have noticed one set I picked up has bright greens (the color your eyes are optimized for) and an uncomfortable looking deep blue.

I say Christmas lights have improved. They're brighter, using less energy, and you can have cool effects like the icicle lights since microcontrollers more powerful than 80s desktop PCs cost pennies.

I'll say he's probably right about 4/5/6 color string lights becoming a blue/green mess, but on the whole, LED lighting has enabled cool-looking technical marvels for Christmas at a fraction of the power consumption. Like the icicle lights I mentioned. Probably higher reliability too even with it all being chinkshit.
