I think it’s fine.
Personally, I went with my avatar because there’s nothing more terrifying than a large uncaring, unfeeling, monstrous entity whose thirst can never be satiated. This entity is capable of destroying your life simply by it noticing your very existence. It does not care for right or wrong, simply that sacrifices are made on time and in the proper amount. Arbitrarily it can decide that the sacrifice was not sufficient despite your following its holy writ to the best of your ability. Unfortunately, the way is obfuscated, constantly changing, intentionally contradictory, and above all else unforgiving. The most horrifying thing is that it exists despite not having a physical form. And any day, at any time, it can come for you.
