Is learning karate cultural appropriation?

Karate is AKSHUALLY something the Japanese appropriated from the west because boxing was starting to become popular in the west in late 19th century and the nips wanted to have something similar because they thought boxing is cool
 
You're better off learning muay thai or straight up boxing (mma gyms are nice if you have them) if you want to learn to defend yourself. It only takes a few weeks to learn enough to defend yourself, and if you get better, you can clear out a whole alleyway of niggers in record time. If you're looking for a competitive combat sport to practice for years, pick up brazilian jiu-jitsu. It's going to cover up striking's biggest weakness : getting taken down to the ground, which is incredibly easy to do.
