what benefit is there to a society and culture by permitting and condoning it

If God doesn't exist, then the chief end of society and culture is whatever the fuck they want it to be.

But society doesn't ever work that way. It's really funny to me that Western conventions are still adamantly against incest while allowing so many other forms of sexual degeneracy. This obviously comes from a society built on values endowed by the Bible (Leviticus 18:7–18 and 20:11–21). But, since nobody wants to say the Bible told them so, they entrench themselves in excuses like "it causes inbreeding" despite a plethora of modern practices that ensure even regular breeding is taken off the table and intercourse can be enjoyed solely for its own pleasure.

It's just the irony of living in a world where God is supposedly dead, but we still stringently maintain His statutes.

It's pretty bad, just for the biological reasons alone. As a fetish, it's unusually common, but you could just blame that on porn.

In spite of that, and I'm going to be crucified on KF for this, but I don't think it should be illegal for weirdos to date their family members, but it should be illegal to conceive a child under those circumstances. Sending bro and sis to jail because they're (consensually) sexual deviants in their own home seems like a little much.

What's really funny about this debate is that even the alphabet people hate incest.

The number one argument they bring up is that incest leads to inbreeding. It's strange that the only time they show concern to the reproductive aspect of sex, it's about incest. Not to mention, if it's homosexual, then you don't even need to worry about birth control since nature won't let same sex couples procreate anyway.

Really the only argument against it would come from Christianity. Have fun trying to work your way around it otherwise.

I read this thread and you nail it, what OP was saying is without christian morals, how is incest bad? and the only answers we got are,

1: inbreeding is bad
but then what about condoms JUST IGNORE THAT PART BRO
2: incest is weird
but homos are weird why is that permitted IT JUST IS OK

incest is vile and disgusting, but without a moral mandate against it in a secular atheist country why is it the only taboo not permitted?

Incest is fine with populations that I don't like because it'll turn them into retarded babies and kill off their chances. But if it's the people that I do like, then it's baddddd!!!!!

When it comes to taboos there are 2 that are and were universal in almost every society in history: incest and cannibalism. There's something about these two that makes life nearly impossible if they're permitted. Incest leads to inbreeding and disintegration of family units, cannibalism leads to places like Papua New Guinea where locals were still in Stone Age when whitey arrived. Nobody needs Christianity to tell them incest is bad in the same way nobody needs anyone to tell them eating shit is bad; they're genetically wired to find it repulsive. Those who aren't don't pass their genes.

Anyway, there was a time I read stories on r/incest and one was about a sibling couple with children (who were genetically OK) and those kids started having sex with each other, keeping it secret from parents. It seems that incestual desires are passed down to the next generation, which could explain why humans are genetically hardwired agains incest.
