You probably need more posts/points.

I have no idea what the exact criteria is but our accounts were both made around the same time and I can send invites. The only major difference I can see is that I have more achievement points, which you should also be able to achieve once you hit 100 posts.

Maybe you need a profile picture? I know accounts without a profile pic get banned from the matrix after a certain period of time.

No way to know for sure unless Josh elucidates on it further. Could just be growing pains and if you try again later it will work fine.
