CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A vehicle fire that VDOT says was caused by a tractor-trailer crash is causing significant delays on Interstate 95 in Chesterfield County.

The crash was first reported by VDOT shortly before 7 a.m. and is located on I-95 South near the Route 288 exit.

According to VDOT, all southbound lanes are closed as a result. The Coxendale Road bridge is also closed.

I-95 traffic is being detoured at Exit 62 and Route 288 traffic is being detoured at Route 1. VDOT says drivers should follow the posted detours or seek alternate routes.

Chesterfield County Fire and EMS reported that the fire had been put out but the road will remain shut down for “an extended amount of time
