Instagram's algorithm boosts reach of pedophile networks

Researchers were able to find widespread account networks that offer depictions of sexualized violence against children for purchase
June 7, 2023, 16:35

The algorithm of the photo platform Instagram increases the reach of account networks that advertise the purchase of depictions of sexualized violence against children (CSAM). This is the result of a joint study by the Wall Street Journal ("WSJ") and researchers from the University of Stanford and the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

In this case, the "WSJ" report emphasizes that the abusive material is not only found on the platform. Instead, the posts would be actively promoted thanks to the algorithm. Specifically, Instagram would connect pedophiles with each other - and lead them almost directly to the sellers of abusive material.

Unique hashtags
The fact that the material on offer is depictions of sexualized violence against children is not even hidden, according to the "Wall Street Journal." The content is promoted with obvious hashtags such as #pedowhore, #preteensex and #pedobait. The material itself, on the other hand, would not be found on Instagram. Instead, according to reporters, sellers post lists of content available for purchase. In some cases, it is even possible for interested parties to commission certain actions. Videos of children hurting themselves are also found among the listings, as are "pictures of minors performing sexual acts with animals." Those who pay enough money also have the possibility of a personal meeting.

Meta itself announced as a result of the report that it would set up an internal task force to deal with the issues raised. In a statement to the U.S. newspaper, the company wrote that child exploitation is "a terrible crime." "We are constantly looking for ways to actively oppose this behavior." In the past two years, the platform has taken 27 pedophile networks offline, it said, adding that further steps are planned.

Initial measures
Since receiving requests from "WSJ," Meta also claims to have blocked several thousand hashtags that sexualize children. Some of them have several million posts, according to the newspaper. In addition, the system would prevent the recommendation of terms that are in the context of sexualized violence against children.

"The fact that a team of three academics with limited access could find such a large network should set off alarms at Meta," Alex Stamos, director of the Stanford Internet Observatory and Meta's former chief security officer, said of the cause. "I hope the company will reinvest in human investigators." (red, 7/6/2023)

Sickening. Even more sickening is that feds are apparently too incompetent to do what FUCKING Wallstreet Journal managed (or perhaps feds are in on this).

Given how powers that be seem perfectly fine with grooming kids into pedophilia it is probably by design.

Remember guys: Twitter wanted to make a OnlyFans competitor in 2020 but gave up on it because they literally couldn't find a way to filter out all the CP that was already being traded there, much less the hell it would be to control it with content behind OnlyFans style paywalls where random people might stumble onto it and report it.

We are simply re-entering the Weimar Germany Experiment. Based on the Frankfurt School and Critical Theory.

10-year-old children turned tricks in the railway stations. A group of 14-year-old Russian girls, refugees from the Red Terror in Stalin’s Communist slaughter house, managed to make a lucrative living in Berlin as dominatrices. Little girls were freely available for sex not only in child brothels and pharmacies but could be ordered by telephone and delivered to clients by taxi, like takeaway meals. Particularly bizarre were mother-and-daughter teams offering their services to the same client simultaneously. Mel Gordon writes: “One French journalist, Jean Galtier-Boissière, described, in sickly pornographic detail, the creeping horror of feeling a nine-year-old girl’s tiny, but proficient, fingers stroking his upper thigh while the broken-toothed mother covered his face with hot sucking kisses.” 15
