I can't tell if you're being serious or not, at the end of the day I'm a real human being. I open up uber eats and press order, 5 minutes later I have a meal delivered to me made by a professional Chef who has done a far better job than I could have ever done. When you factor in how expensive fresh produce is, I pay a few bucks more than I did if I went shopping for all this garbage and wasted my Saturday. This is what we call winning.
Respectfully Disagree.
Most food falls into 3 or 4 categories: good but expensive, great but very expensive or shitty but cheap or likely still overpriced (e.g. Fast Food).
KFC
3 PC. TENDERS FILL UP
$8.49
Each chicken tender is 52g, with 10g of protein.
Chicken breast is ~$4/lb (454g)
120 grams of chicken breast is 37g of protein.
By the math, 3 pieces of tendies contain less than $1 of chicken breast.
Worst case scenario the fries, cookie, biscuit and soda cost another $1-2.
So the total cost is less than $3 for the food and over $5 dollars for the overhead.
On top of that, if you have access to beef tallow than anything you deep fry will taste much better than KFC's soybean oil.
The value proposition is very poor and that taste won't be as good as homemade.
If you do the math, this is representative for most restaurants,
There are times when it makes sense to eat out.
Like if you don't have the skills or equipment for a recipe (e.g. Neapolitan pizza) or it's some good quality street food that you don't eat on a regular basis or maybe you want a Michelin star experience.
But in terms of daily eating, it's far cheaper and tastier to master a few recipes that you enjoy.
