I never really interacted with the "wider fandom" in any sort of positive way. It was mostly just me and a few friends reading an intentionally obtuse funny adventure game inspired comic we found and showed each other. Technically the first one that was found was problem sleuth. Every time i run into a homestuck fan kind of person these days it's a lot less shitposty and a lot more bitching about gender reperesentation shit and slurs or capitalism or whatever. The comic apperently broke when they changed it to a "mobile friendly" site and then adobe killed flash dead so like the only way to look at it proper is via some dumb third party "archive" the hosts of which are kinda huffy about. I'm glad I managed to experience it in it's original state before all this bullshit really.

OP in this thread was interesting case because they seemed like someone that was chill like the earlier homestuck fans despite not being one and yet also seemed to be simultaneously poisoned by whatever shit eventually mutated the people that are "fans" of homestuck into what they are now and it's a fucking shame We didn't get more answers shits just gonna be an enigma forever now.

It’s probably like every other media piece that experienced a far longer tenure than originally intended. Over time they twist and change from the influx of new ‘fans’ until it is no longer recognisable by the old guard.

This shit happens time and time again with so many IPs that it’s even become a phenomenon in the mainstream. Just look at the hot mess Star Wars became, not even the original fans can sit down at a table and agree with each other what the ‘idealised’ version of their setting is the most authentic.

It’s like an even more retarded version of the Ship of Theseus, just with fans and concessions on the developers end, instead of planks of wood.

Quite a bit of Hussie's pre-mspa content that went 404 save for archives somewhere around the height of homestucks popularity when it was still being made is something that's consistently made me lose my fucking shit looking at it all these years later. Not sure what that says about me, but a part of me wonders what this world would be like if shit like ZOOSMELLS or HUMANIMALS got big instead of MSPA and then Homestuck. I means shit was popular to a degree but nowhere near as popular as the MSPA shit more than likely because that format for a webcomic is something that wasn't done too much till MSPA. A lot of the current homestuck guys get really pissed by hussies old stuff but I see literally no problem with it and it's insane to me the same people that read homestuck can't stand to read these.

For context on those 2 comics they were the standard newspaper style of comics that were either a single page or 2 or 3 panels long.

ZOOSMELLS was a comic with a simple premise about guys REALLY liking the smell of animals to the point it made them compulsively biden-sniff them but it wasn't always like that but the point is it almost always involved a dude and an animal and some form of smelling going on.

HUMANIMALS were a bunch of short comics of an office-setting slice of life kinda comedy thing that's whole gimmick was wacky visual unease due to all the employees being freaky yet endearing looking and pleasantly behaved cronenberg-esque animal men. Think centaurs but if it was random limbs replaced by random animal parts instead of just a dude with a horse bottom, though there were centaurs in it too. I could see an actual TV show made about this one and it's a damn crime we're never gonna see that.

Also mildly related but apperently Hussie's "dave strider" Blog where he reviewed and insulted random shit in a funny way over 10 years seems to still be up but I saw some shit about blogspot having viruses potentially now or some shit so i'm not clicking that shit to check if it's all still there or it's been deleted.
IIRC he drops the hard R N word at one point but I could be misremembering

Just from the overview you gave me of those things, I’m glad webcomics are going the way of the dinosaur. I bet my bottom dollar that some fan gets off on the idea of sniffing animals.

I’ll probably ask in PMs about some homestuck links and see this autism for myself. If what you say about the ‘proto-SJWs’ is accurate, then I’ll be interested to get some insight as to how that festering tumour became the cancer it is known for today.

Unlike the other cases of similarly named things where the names just a reference to a thing more or less, OP specifically unironically claimed to be a reincarnation of a fictional character but wasn't immediately hostile like other people that have made the same claims in the past. Who knows, maybe it was just shitposting? Still, they made an account solely to do this apperently and nothing else afterwards, so it's really all we have to go on here.

Unforeseen consequences of my pfp shitposts, I am now literally nepeta to some people now against all logic and reason.
Don't see myself as em, don't fall into the "otherkin" territory, but it just kinda happened.
I was going to necro this thread for the funny when there was a sudden burst in AMA threads a while back, but I was too tired/lazy/busy to figure out what joke to put. I am now necroing it as more a reminder of where this all began. Will we ever see OP return to answer the questions? Probably not considering I found and commented on their profile months ago after thinking about this shit again and nothing happened. Perhaps they got sucked further down the ideology hole, and are now posting somewhere about how spooky scary the farms are? I have no fucking clue. I just find it pretty funny how this shit all played out. My ass doesn't behave or talk in a manner similar to the character (not that OP did either but I'm WAY too "rude" lmao) but somehow I've achieved what OP sought to be seen like without even fucking trying. I've become "ok with this" for the fact I find it funny. Not going to abandon my monkey man roots just because I'm ok with it though! Sneaking the actual Lawgiver statue into my profile pics has been a thing since even before this current one, but currently it's relegated to my banner due to avatars/thumbnails uploading weird the last few months for me.

There's a lot more pfps and variants of pfps, but this is just me grabbing what i can find in my files again to provide context.
Almost every single one of these has like 2 or 3 inside jokes that were either tied to current happenings or some personal reference to something I found funny.
Or there's just nonsense like "the goatse hole" which is/was the black hole looking thing that showed up in some avatars. (and may show up again in December)

I'd possibly have more say about everything, but I can't really gather all my thoughts since I'm always tired or dead lately and filled with the constant existential future dread of someone who's been basically fucked over and out of plans for shit for a good span of time in different ways the last decade or so. Maybe whenever I get a proper enough burst of energy again I'll use it partly to think of a way to lean further into shit tied to all this for more of my own not really easily definable sense of humor. Both suffering and laughing, a feeling generally well known by long term users here lmao. Might be a bit scatterbrained right now, it goes from quiet to a noise tunnel every time I gather my thoughts and start typing over here. This forum is the only place I use anything even remotely homestuck related as a PFP and it is entirely due to this thread's nonsense making me laugh a few years back when it happened.

Fuck it doesn't feel like it's been almost a full 3 already. Here's to an unknown number of years more in the case the rot continues and I don't get a "better" pfp gimmick. Post about what the fuck ever if you feel like it, I just wanted to put this somewhere without making a new thread.
