Otherkin, Fictionkin... those are things I haven't heard about in a long time. Are those subcultures are still a thing, or were they just a mid 2010s tumblr fad?

Yeah. I remember tumblr cringe and the ponyfag spam being relatively fresh, even if it's more like 2012 era content. I guess that was the peak era of the desktop Internet. After that the smart phones took over and the Internet culture changed yet again for the younger people.
