If you don't care, don't post.

2 options
1. reacting with a simple sticker and not shitting up the thread
2. leaving a shitty unproductive post and cluttering the thread for no reason

People who pick option 2 are fucking cancer and I will revel in the day they are unable to be annoying
There is another option
3. Don't even click on the link if it's a threat/event you don't care about. Do nothing.

There are thousands of threads I don't care about, and I find that option 3 saves me a lot of time that I would otherwise spend reading topics that do not interest me, and then complaining that they do not interest me.

Also, @Null can we add a third kind of post to your list, specifically barging into a featured thread like the Kool-Aid man and saying "Hey I don't know anything about [thread topic], can someone summarise the last 2000 pages? Also is this "Chris Chan" a kind of soda or what?". And if they get mad when people tell them no, tell them to read the OP/thread highlights or ignore them, please arrange for them to be launched into the sun.

i don't mind those as much because they're showing interest and if someone's asking that question there's a non-zero chance that it would benefit others.

One thing I'd like to add to this is when I ask that question, I'm also trying to get a summary of the events leading up to the happening, as that provides background information as to why it happened.

I'm going to take the enlightened centrist position here. I don't really care about people posting or not, but clearly some people do care and i respect that.

Posts that exist simply to state the most obvious, superficial observation possible for the sole purpose of getting a post in as close to the featured post, like a game of horse shoes.
Does this include the funny but useless posts?
Some users always manage to make me chuckle with their silly but useless comments.

The sort of people who go out of their way to post that they don’t care are usually if two camps. Either they do care and only want the high horse that comes with being “above the issue” or they just want attention and or two provoke others. Regardless both options are pretty shitty people.

To be fair, many of the threads where this happens have really long rambling shit OP’s that no one can reasonably read with the expectation of getting a clear understanding of the events in question. That is to say that it often becomes necessary to ask a third party.

there are featured threads where something actually interesting is happening to a boring person. like let's say something actually funny happened with bossmanjack, like he slammed a door on his penis and there was video of him doing it -- that would be very funny. and then if i went into that thread and there's 800 fucking pages and i look through the first few pages and the highlights, and it's all people obsessing about him losing money from online gambling, i would be confused (because that is not funny or interesting)

if someone asks what his deal is after the penis door slam incident and thread regulars explain that he just gambles all day and yells at the monitor, then i would at least know i don't have whatever fetish is required for me to be interested in that and i can just keep reading after the featured page. even if he was boring before maybe he'll do something crazy now that something interesting has happened, like yell at his bandaged penis or draw faces on it or something

I'm glad someone finally acknowledged this. It really boils my piss when nice, cozy threads get completely shat up by attention-whoring retards after getting featured.

I feel like if a post in response to a Happening is funny it's by default not useless. Laughing at the Lolcow is half the cow.

I hope this helps the Patrick Tomlinson thread because the tourists visiting every time it’s featured aren’t even paying the thread tax of reminding us how fucking fat he is.

@Null Question regarding this topic, it sounds like you're basically saying "KF is a place where we have a thousand dedicated threads to discuss the topics of the threads, not to comment 'this is retarded, who cares.'" if what I'm saying is correct, is the result you're trying to gain a more high quality forum user who is here to interact and provide meaningful commentary rather than the average "Poggers/This is stupid" Redditor, or is it more of a "We are working with limited resources here, we can't afford to become a place where half the users and there for half the posts/comments/replies are just interacting for interactions sake"?
