In short--yes. Recycle. Drill, baby, drill. For domestic oil. Against ethanol (drives up corn prices). Do not see solar as a viable option (Solyndra is a fiasco). You can't ban tag and sports with balls in schools and then cry that America's children are getting too fat. Let kids be kids. Gay marriage is a ploy. Gun control is hitting what you aim at. Why try to ban candy cigarettes and vaping are but push to have a pot shop on every corner? If you wanted a "real" black man in the White House, you shouldn't have railroaded Herman Cain. Probably much I've forgotten, but there's always the comic to express my views.
Why is gay marriage a ploy?
Also, I agree with you on vaping. Vaping, candy cigs, and weed should all be legal. Also with you on ethanol and school sports, it's ridiculous how pussyfied we've become as a nation. Also, don't really agree with stupid stuff like "Scary Gun Bans" or "OMG, high capacity .30 caliber Clips OMG!". It's ill informed hysteria.

No one is going to take anyone's guns away unless they want another thing coming, especially not our shitty ass government - unless they, too, want their asses kicked, provided they don't don't the extremely loyal military system on those who they can fight them... Yeah, Icono - your lack of intelligence on gun issues is disgustingly hilarious...

Alright, there's no reason to talk about the guy's mother and whether or not he loves her, etc. There's plenty of other lulzmilk here.

Most of that was pretty standard GOP talking points until the racism peaked out at the end.

It amuses me how much Republicans hate being tagged with that, but hey, with the company they keep...

I disagree, the way he treats her is reprehensible and obviously indicates deeper issues. As his reality-appointed counselors it's our imperative to explore this.

[W]hy not go get a job and relieve the burden of dealing with your sorry ass?
I tried that. I don't do well in a 9-to-5 environment. That's why I work at home.

...I still don't see how you can afford to give her any money at all ... I mean, doesn't your brother steal it all from you? Which is it?

What do you mean "which"? Unfortunately in the years since Dale' departure his (undeserved) cut steadily got bigger and bigger, until he wasn't happy with just taking a little here and a little there, so he grabbed it all.

...[A]t no point in time would I insult [my mother] by calling her simple...

I'm sorry, but how else would you characterize a woman who meets a guy online, lets him move in with her within just a few months, and loans him the money to start his own business (while pleading poverty when I ask for the tuition for another semester or two of school) despite realizing he's a boob with the business acumen of an amoeba ? And on top of that, installing me in the shop to essentially babysit him all day so he doesn't screw up (which, as the lawnmower incident shows, I failed at). That shop caused the rift that tore apart my family, and that worm Dale is out there doing it again. He has to pay. :cryblood:

I'm assuming you mean that gun control will take the guns out of law abiding citizens while criminals will still have them.
Yes.

I wrote an editorial about gay marriage back in the spring. Basically, I said it is a huge ploy because it is being packaged by the Democrats as a "right"...but it's really just going to be used as a means to control every aspect of same-sex couples' lives. Ultimately the government will force them to pay higher health-care premiums (because it's a fact that the homosexual lifestyle is more stressful, and stress contributes to illness). They'll decide how many children same-sex spouses can adopt (or if they can adopt at all), and make gay divorces harder to get than straight ones. Eventually, if too many of their pet gay couples split they'll step in and pick their partners for them, much like they were doing to college students back in the late nineties. You want to talk about a group using people for establishing superiority and political gain, brother, that's what the Demwits are doing to the pink triangle crowd. Moral questions about hte lifestyle aside, I hate to see people exploited.

Oh, and I see through your tricks. You won't let me edit posts or use the search function as petty revenge for my calling you out in my blog. Cute. You people sicken me. :left:

After reading (and skimming a bit) all these 44 pages all I see is the same thing over and over.

"My life sucks and it's everybody else's fault. I refuse to do absolutely anything that might accidentally improve my shitty life. I've been bitching and moaning about the same thing for 15 years and stopping now would mean I've wasted 15 years of my life for absolutely nothing."

Things won't magically just get better but if you haven't figured that out after 15 years I doubt you ever will. Fun fact: nothing will change and you're going to die alone and miserable. And that's naturally everybody else's fault.

I tried that. I don't do well in a 9-to-5 environment. That's why I work at home.
So you just give up?
What do you mean "which"? Unfortunately in the years since Dale' departure his (undeserved) cut steadily got bigger and bigger, until he wasn't happy with just taking a little here and a little there, so he grabbed it all.
This doesn't answer the question, unless you really mean that you give her nothing and you lied to me.
I'm sorry, but how else would you characterize a woman who meets a guy online, lets him move in with her within just a few months,
Lonely.
and loans him the money to start his own business (while pleading poverty when I ask for the tuition for another semester or two of school)
None of the rest of this paragraph matters because this is the heart of what I'm getting at here. Its always about you, and never about her. Were you not eligible for financial aid? Did you not even try to find a job, even something shitty like McDonald's? Or is that "beneath you"? You are terminally selfish, I swear.

On top of that, I think that rather than trying to have you babysit him (or anyone, for that matter, seeing as she obviously views you as incompetent by now) I think she was trying to get you to succeed in life. Overall I'd say she did the best she could with her mentally-deficient son and I can't blame her if it didn't work out because sometimes life is like that, sometimes you get a kid who makes mistakes but picks himself up and tries again and never stops, and sometimes you get...you.

That shop caused the rift that tore apart my family, and that worm Dale is out there doing it again. He has to pay. :cryblood:
Even if he is doing any of this and you're not just completely exaggerating or misinterpreting the situation, what are you going to do about it? You're completely impotent! You have no money, you have no friends, you have no hope and no clue.

Ok, cool, we'll add "bigot" to the list of things you are. Bigot.

Eventually, if too many of their pet gay couples split they'll step in and pick their partners for them, much like they were doing to college students back in the late nineties.
What the fuck are you even talking about? What even is this? Picking partners for college students? That didn't even happen. Can you provide proof that isn't just you rambling some more about things you know nothing about?

Oh, and I see through your tricks. You won't let me edit posts or use the search function as petty revenge for my calling you out in my blog. Cute. You people sicken me. :left:
The reason you are unable to edit your posts is so that when you realize how completely illogical and stupid you've been, you can't just erase all your posts later.

Overall I'd give this a D- because you're not even trying anymore, you're just making up shit whole cloth, for no reason I can detect. Do you even understand half of what you're saying? I don't think you do, because any rational human being that thought out these positions wouldn't have them anymore. I mean come on, gun control will just take it away from law-abiding citizens? Are you fucking high? That makes zero sense and in the real world that hasn't happened, so I can't believe you'd espouse that.

Yeah. Wait, what?

[filler post on how it's fucking pointless to try to talk this guy into changing]

You do realize that to run a successful home business that you'll have to work in excess of 60 hours a week, and the return you see on that is a huge gamble, right? And what do you know of a 9-to-5 environment? Every career is different, every business environment is different. I don't think I've seen anyone wear a tie in at my job for the last 8 years. Just a bunch of fellow workers wearing comfortable clothes (hoodies, t-shirts, jeans) doing our industry jobs at our computers, hitting the lunch truck at noon and generally just being normal. No cubicles, no water coolers, no bosses coming around asking for us to come in extra or for any TPS reports. I'm afraid the 9-5 lifestyle that you so fear doesn't exist at all anymore or is seriously over represented in you mind when you think of a "day job".

What the fuck are you talking about? Really? Are you on this again? Picking out mates? I'll have to admit, this is a new wrinkle. Before you were complaining that the System is what kept you from being able to date the girl that you wanted to date, and now you're telling me that the System was going to pick out a girl for you? Where the hell was this for me in the late '90s? I couldn't score a woman to save my life back then! @The_Iconoclast I really need you to explain to me the many tentacled monster that is "the System" and what all it controls, because it is just starting to seem like a mythical boogieman you refer to when you don't have a more convenient group to blame.

But in all honesty, I could do a whole comic with no speech bubbles (and have), and these pinheads would still find something to bitch about, because they are sad, broken little people who cannot look outside their narrow little definition of "normal" to embrace new ideas.
Yep, the speech bubbles are DEFINITELY the only thing wrong with your comic, not the multitude of other things that have been pointed out numerous times. You sure have us figured out!

Hardly. It's an old joke that's been making the rounds for 20 years. I just updated it with Barry-Boy's name. That's the beauty of liberalism-- same old stale, tired tricks, just change a name here and there.
So, essentially, you admit to being a hack. Even Dane Cook wasn't stupid enough to admit using CK's bits.

There is something deeply, stupidly wrong with you people, and I would love to see some of you locked up. AUGH YEAH
Lol. Someone is taking the internet way too seriously.

You can't ban tag and sports with balls in schools and then cry that America's children are getting too fat. Let kids be kids.
Yeah that hasn't happened aside from sporadic cases you have no proof of. That's the same reasoning as "All Republicans are evil because Dahmer was one." Sure he may have been but that doesn't make them all serial killers.

Gay marriage is a ploy.
Yeah fuck people getting a choice to get something they can't have due to something minor like sexuality.

Why try to ban candy cigarettes and vaping are but push to have a pot shop on every corner?
They aren't banned. Kids can still buy candy cigarettes and vaping is a growing industry. Grasping at straws here.

If you wanted a "real" black man in the White House, you shouldn't have railroaded Herman Cain.
Well that isn't vaguely racist. Nope. If getting a "real black man" was all it took Nas would be president. Last I checked hail to the chief wasn't replaced with Illmatic (as dope as that would be).

I've noticed I textwall a lot more when writing off the cuff or doing last-minute rewrites to a storyboard. I'm trying to have my thoughts better organized before I begin pencilling. I bought some notebooks and wrote most of seasons eight and nine longhand, and it's really working. The pages look much better now.

But in all honesty, I could do a whole comic with no speech bubbles (and have), and these pinheads would still find something to bitch about, because they are sad, broken little people who cannot look outside their narrow little definition of "normal" to embrace new ideas.
Would this be a good example of your most recent work? If so, there's definitely a significant improvement on the formatting. The words flow much more easily from bubble to bubble. Aesthetically, it's still jarring to have no speech in the second panel without at least bolding it. I'd strongly recommend investing in a mid to high quality tablet if you haven't done so already. If this work is truly your life's mission, you need to be able to invest in it as such. If you can't, then you need to find ways.

As for your speechless strips, the idea flow is decent. You can follow the action and understand what's going on pretty well in the gun chase scene. I had a little difficulty with the underground cables one, but that was more due to it being low res and having some small text.

But, of course people are going to have their opinions "even if" the one thing they call out the most isn't there. When you put yourself out there, you subject yourself to outside opinions. I, personally, don't love some of the character designs (this baby looks off) or color choices (In the brightest light, some seem to be just a few shades darker than what's welcoming- it feels...dingy). There also is very little sensitivity to lighting (how that girl's face is lit up) and An inconsistent sense of shadows (last frame.)

The thing is, you're right about certain things. Your comic is better than Sonichu. But it could be more than that. You do have some sense of stylization and a practiced hand. You've been doing this for a very long time, and so there's a level of comfort and ease with what you draw. You're much closer than I think you think to getting a clean, polished look if you would just learn the tools to do it. Don't become complacent. Read your critiques, if they aren't worded unnecessarily cruelly. Compare your comic to others and ask "Could I afford to do more of______? Could this help my comic?" Try embracing new ideas. ;)
Regardless of what you think of Garfield, Jim Davis made huge changes to the designs over time and people kept reading. I seem to recall it making the franchise even more popular.

You have a very negative view of the opinions of others. It seems to goes beyond "I don't give a fuck." and extend to "Fuck you for thinking things about my work that haven't occurred to me." It makes sense with what you've experienced in life, but it's extremely detrimental if you'd like to create anything that appeals to a group of people, of any size.

By the way, I think you'd find that many of us on this forum are actually terribly open minded people. If anything, we're more jaded than average to the perverse and controversial because of the very reason we joined. You've already seen on this thread people from all over the political spectrum, all over the world, from different socioeconomic backgrounds, and many many different interests. The vast majority of us get along without a hitch. Even when there are hitches, it gets resolved. People are willing to apologize and compromise. If we were all as broken and afraid of new things as you think, this community would have gone down in flames after the first few months.

Anyway, you need to make a choice: Do you actually want to make a successful comic, or do you want to make comics for yourself alone? If this is just a hobby to you, and you would prefer The Belch Dimension stays in its own insulated bubble, then you can ignore everyone and carry on. If not, you're going to have to start thinking objectively about your own work and welcome the opinions of the world in.

If you feel like you can't welcome those opinions, but you still really want that success, then it would do you worlds of good to step away from your comic for awhile. How long is up to you: a week, a month, a year or two, ten, it doesn't matter. Take however long you need to focus on other things, going back to just being a reader, even daring to critique other artists, taking up a completely different hobby, dedicating all your time to finding employment, whatever you need to do to make your life better and expand your worldview. Then, you could go back to your passion with fresh eyes and reevaluate where you are and where you'd like to be.

Okay, I have a serious question for you Iconoclast, how do you feel about your alma mater changing the school's mascot from Indians to Red Wolves?

Hey man I was wondering if you could go into more detail on this - he wasn't so much your partner as your mom's boyfriend? And you mentioned something earlier (maybe months ago) in this thread about there was an argument with a customer that I understood (maybe incorrectly) was the catalyst for him ditching you, your mom, and the business and skipping town. What was that about? Customer being a jerk? Dale overreacting? Deets plz.

EDIT Also thinking about this some more when you said the power dynamic shifted when Dale left, you hadn't previously mentioned in this thread Dale lived with you. Dale protected you from your brother's shit while he lived there, didn't he? He was the man of the house who, until he betrayed you and your mother, had the decency to look out for you in the apparent absence of your father. Dale might not deserve to suffer as severely as you might believe.
