I thought they just stole that from their customers and gave it to a bunch of dangerhairs who immediately stole it and left and that it isn't an ongoing thing.
I'm not sure. But I wouldn't rule out the possibility that CR has some other project that Sheehan might be putting money into, particularly one that someone like Nick would know about.
Does anybody know if she's been going on about confidential investigations on twitter ala La Choy? Because early on she also held herself out to be a Funimation employee / agent. Pretty sure people figured out that she was just a cosTHOT and she denied agency faster than La Choy though.
I've seen some of your reasoning on your guesses before, but can you explain why you think Sheehan ranks over Sabat? From what I've heard Sabat thinks he's king shit (especially in the Texas VA scene) so why would he be doing this guys bidding?
I think Iago is Sabat and Schemmel is one of igor/renfield given his history. It's hard to speculate due to how little information we have on the lower two. Sheehan might be one of them, but the other night Ty seemed to have no idea what crunchyroll is, he could have been acting of course, but it looked like explaining tech to a boomer to me (Nick should have just explained it as anime Netflix).
My main issues with Sabat are that there's two or three hints that simply don't fit with Sabat. I'm gonna seriously disagree with Ty if it turns out to be Sabat not because I can't believe he's Iago, but because his voice isn't that high voice.
I have various issues with Sabat being Iago, and I'll run down them quickly for this thread-
1 - Sabat was my first immediate guess. Before Ty revealed there were codenames or dropped any hints, when he said he made a little 'network' and that everything tied back into one person, I expected him to say Sabat. When he then went on to hint at Iago, one of the things he mentions is that Iago thinks he's going to get away without being affected or caught, that he's kept his hands clean. That's at odds with EVERYONE's first guess being Sabat. It's more in line with Igor.
2 - The voice. He put on a weaselly higher voice and went out of his way to say that 'and yes his voice sounds like this'. Chris has a deep voice.
3 - The implication about Iago is that he's insulated by at least one or two layers to protect him from a lawsuit. Sabat has been caught sending DMs, has talked openly about Vic, and has been personally involved in the KC tort. Again, it's hard to believe Sabat could have thought 'you can't prove any of it!' or that he can't be implicated.
4 - No one has found him bragging online about his money yet.
5 - He doesn't have a company that he's
vice-principal in that could get dragged into the lawsuit due to him. Funimation was dragged in all on its own, meaning that his position of vice-principal has no bearing on this except to drag
himself into it. Threatening him by saying 'and we WILL drag your company into it' makes no sense if Ty means Funimation. Okratron, from everything I can see, is
his company. That would make him the
principal in it, right? Not the vice. I don't know of a third company Sabat is involved in.
6 - Sabat isn't unpopular with women. Not only is he married with kids, but cosplayers and fans throw themselves at him just as much as they do Vic. Asserting that he just isn't popular with women because he's ugly and unpleasant doesn't really fit. Sheehan is a better fit for me, because while he
is married, he doesn't appear to be chased around by girls, and he's very obviously not physically attractive.
Also, I have my doubts about 'well he's an independent contractor' as an excuse to say 'he's not an employee of either company, nor the cons', because they're dealing with other VAs of Funimation and don't seem to be making that distinction. That said, even if I give that point, the above 6 are still an issue.
I would have to disagree with you on all three for the following reasons:
Iago -
Adam Sheenan gay anime project was funding by misappropriated funds from crunchyroll subscribers so none of the money is coming out of his pocket so it wouldn't make much sense for Nick to say that he may loose that funding. It was never his in the first place. Also Adam Sheenan is not an Funimation employees or agents of Funimation. Adam Sheenan does have a lot of ties and connections there since he's worked there for 10+ years but it wouldn't make sense for Ty's law firm to go after him.
Was he connected or influenced Funimation Staff into firing Vic in some way? Maybe.
But as far as we know he isn't directly implicated or even indirectly implicated in any legal misconduct unlike Sabat (along with Monica), which we know for a fact he tried to twist the arm of KC to not re-invite Vic which has led to the infamous "Torturous Interference" claim. Also all of Iago's motivations and actions align squarely on Chris Sabat.
Igor-
It's almost impossible to me that Sabat is Igor. It doesn't line up for any of his motivations or actions he has done so far. Chris Sabat likes to be one step remove from any blatant idocity and attempts to play the "Neutral/Good Guy" in public but in reality he acts like a pussy from a far trying to influence people and fuck with situations from the backround. He'll never do any of the dirty work himself. On top of that, Chris's networth is the largest of all main characthers in this shitshow so why would he think someone else will pay his legal fees? And I'm fairly certain Chris is aware that he may be a target of litigation since Nick went on a long rant about how much of a piece of shit he is for trying to fuck with KC.
Renfield -
It's unlikely Renfield be Sean Schemmel because Nick himself said that the identity of Renfield is someone kiwi's have suggested could be Igor. Sean Schemmel was never suggested as far as I'm aware but ya never know. Like I said there's little information on Renfield.
Iago - Ty specifically says in the very first hint about Iago that he's 'not an employee of [funimation or rooster teeth]'. Sheehan fits this better than Sabat, because he legitimately isn't employed by Funimation in any way. However, due to the fact that he
used to be, and that Funimation and Crunchyroll have very close connections and previously had a partnership, it's not beyond the realm of possibility that he has influence over Funimation. He also has influence over cons due to CR having influence over them. He also has the power of subs, not just dubs, to wield.
Igor - Ty describes Igor as 'one of the most sad and pathetic individuals I've ever seen'. He mentions this person gets their hands dirty while Iago doesn't. This is important, because the only three people we know who are involved in the KC tort are Sabat, Rial, and Toye. Rial and Toye are now disqualified for Igor.
Therefore, why would Iago get involved in TI w/contract in a way that's so easily caught (3 hours of phone harassment after Nick already hinted at knowing something) but not Igor? Why wasn't Igor involved? Igor is specifically the one that Iago uses to get their hands dirty and insulate himself. Wouldn't you think committing TI w/C like this would be an Igor thing? I could believe Iago AND Igor did it, but why remove Igor? That, to me, speaks volumes for the possibility that Sabat is Igor. And furthermore, people keep saying that Sabat is 'pretending to be the nice, neutral guy'.
No. He really isn't. Sabat immediately jumped in the line of fire to protect Monica, he immediately flung Vic very publicly under the bus, and when he was called on it he publicly tweeted "Vic threw himself under the bus, this is his fault." Or something to that effect. And then he continued on in DMs to attack Vic, instead of doing it over the phone or having someone else do that for him. I only heard people claiming that Sabat wants to look good and not anti-Vic since Iago. Heck, people were openly theorizing on Twitter about Sabat being the ringleader before Ty ever came onto the scene.
Renfield - Sean was in fact suggested as Igor. He's also been suggested as Iago, but that was never serious. He's also one of the most likely of the Igor choices to be Renfield. He's so dumb that when he tried to commit TI last year he got caught all on his own, and he keeps causing things to blow up in his own face. I can believe him having enough influence to be Renfield while not realizing that he is. Marzgurl has to know she's on the target list, and again masculine pronouns has been used, so I don't think her or Skye is it.
Do you have even the barest hint Sheehan threw down any of his own money on High Guardian Spice? Even if he did, everyone working on that project was paid in hair dye and problem glasses. On top of that, it would be a huge stretch to call it an active project. It's more of a corpse than the god emperor.
Well, the problem I have with the house renno is that they're not as expensive as you think. Maybe $10-40k is what you might expect to pay. Sabat has a net worth of something like $7m. If he's got the wealth to swing around to spend $200k for himself or be believed if he says he'll pay for someone else's lawyer, he probably won't be unable to finish his house renno even if he's hit with the suit. Now, something like an anime project or something,
that would be massively impacted by a big lawsuit. Especially if it targeted the company you're working for, who would maybe reconsider funding your pet project.
