These people will tell you with a straight face that tanks are bad because they run out of fuel and guns are useless because you need to shoot to the head.
"eerm the military gets overrun because it just does ok. They quickly run out of fuel and ammo because that's how logistics work chud! Humans are incapable of protecting strategic key assets" (as if we didn't do it for thousans of years), the dumb braindead shamblers somehow always exploit the weak points of society.

Because Air supremacy means nothing to these people and the US is totally not protecting their own fuel reserves at all times. You see, a bunch of people walking in can just overtake an entire base. Then they will start ranting about how the bow is the perfect weapon, pretty much better than guns in any way possible, or how they would use swords to decapitate zombies. zombie movies are just reddit tier fiction, they all immediately dismiss the military.
The only scenario in which the military would be at a considerable disadvantage is if the virus was airborne like the coof.

This is why a zombie story author's first job is to think of how to knock the main character out for a few days or even weeks. Then you don't have to think about a logical chain of events for how the infection was able to spread to all the sealed-off facilities and how "the militaries were overrun" by creatures that don't plan, don't use tools and don't wear armor, other than incidentally.

Zombie fiction requires such a suspension of disbelief it's virtually impossible for any mildly educated adult to be invested in it. "What if we pretended biology isn't real?" is not a good elevator pitch.
