i cant get to sleep without drinking coffee. why?

You've had too much of it and your body is now dependent on it. I wouldn't want to experience the unholy levels of caffeine withdrawals you get at that point.

Pro tip to anyone reading: don't drink coffee past 3PM if you're going to sleep at 9 or 10. It stays in your system for at least six hours.
Also don't drink coffee until one and a half hours after waking up so your body can produce adenosine correctly.

I can second this as a professional coffee addict and Italian.

I stopped drinking coffee past 2 because it would fuck me up so bad at night trying to sleep and even when I did sleep it would be a shitty restless sleep that never felt relaxing.

This I usually do but I don't really notice much of a difference between drinking coffee first thing when I wake up and waiting a bit first.
