Hurricane Beryl just leveled the island nations of Carriacou and Grenada, and is officially in the record books as the earliest Category 5 hurricane to ever form in the Atlantic and only the second Atlantic storm of such strength to be recorded in July. I believe the previous record cat 5 formed on July 17th.
CNN has a pretty good summary of the stats: https://www.cnn.com/2024/07/02/weather/hurricane-beryl-jamaica-caribbean-forecast/index.html
Video of what used to be Carriacou:
Ralphamales on hurricane watch. I’m making this a happening thread because I have a feeling there is more to come. Maybe even in the US.
