This game could have been improved so much by just hiring a fucking editor. Take the G-Man's speech for example.

Sgt Mitchell in the flesh... or rather, his remains. I do have to admit I'm impressed that you made it back alive from Black Mesa, even if it wasn't our intention to begin with, yet you're still here. You should have just died there but here you are. You've proven yourself a man of rare conviction. But even this does not impress me as much as the words you speak: whatever it takes, whoever it takes, how ever long it takes before I die, I will kill you - is that right? Well, you see, Mr. Mitchell, we cannot let you kill Dr. Freeman - yet. They authorized me to offer you a deal. You will be rewarded with authority, power, and time. The only payment we ask when the time comes - keep your promise, Mr. Mitchell. In the meantime, this is where I get off.

There's so much bullshit in that paragraph I can't stand it. I made a few cuts to make it less repetitive, although it could still use some tweaking. I removed the part where G-Man quotes Mitchell because he does it literally seconds after Mitchell said the exact same thing and there's no reason the audience should need a reminder. I also removed the last sentence of the paragraph because it's blatantly stolen from Half-Life and only makes sense in context. When G-Man said this in the original game he was riding on a train, whereas in HDTF he's just standing in a black void.

Of course this wouldn't save the abysmal story, but it might have made the whole thing less offensive to the ears. Just having someone on the team keeping the writer on a leash could have eliminated a lot of cringe.

The Moint Pan videro from the last page makes sure to point that out.

Apparently the HDTF discord has gone kablooey
