I woke up this morning to see a CNN article about the Huffington Post's policy of calling Donald Trump a racist in 72 point bold font every time is seen as unbecoming of a news agency wanting to be taken seriously.

New York Daily News calls him worse every time they put him on the front page.

Of course, the same accusation could be leveled against NY Daily News, that is, that it isn't a serious news agency.

HuffPo wrote a positive article about Gen Zed.
That pretty much tells you everything you need to know.

How about those "Diversity Reports" for businesses (financial status, ethnicity, etc.)?

The sad thing is that, as I've seen people mention before, late night comedy shows are the best place to get quality and reliable news anymore.

No way, man. Huff Post has some of the best-informed, most incisive, and most prescient writers on the interwebs. Like this remarkable prediction from around 20 hours ago:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/lance-simmens/trump-will-lose-in-new-ha_b_9191364.html

I rest my case. ESP? No, Huffpo contributors are just that good.

I hate the Huffington Post more than any of you people could ever imagine.

The company I work for has a cross-promotion deal with Huffington Post. We have our own blog to post our weekly articles on, but they've also given us a corner of the site to use. And their posting interface is fucking horrendous.

Do you guys remember what LiveJournal was like around the last decade? Raw HTML tags everywhere, with everything in that ugly-ass Courier New font? If you want to put something up on Huffington Post, the interface is still exactly like that. It probably hasn't changed at all since the site first launched back in 2005. And this wouldn't be a problem if HTML code worked the way it does on literally every other website, but it doesn't. We still haven't figured out how to add captions to our images. You'd think with all the money they save from not paying their writers, they'd be able to update their interface to something a bit newer than the fucking Motorola RAZR.

The best part, though, is that your post isn't actually published and visible until it gets approved by an editor. I understand that big-name outlets have to take precautions like that when they let people like me post articles on there, but usually we don't see our posts go up until a day or two later. And in the postmodern Internet hellscape of today, something's no longer current when it's a day late.

This also applies to edits, too - in the best possible way. Whenever we have to make a correction to one of our articles, we can't just edit the post ourselves and make the correction immediately. Oh no. That would be way too sensible. We have to send an email to the editor specifying the changes we want made, then wait another day for them to get off their lazy ass and make those changes. Because the Internet works exactly like a newspaper.

Fuck the Huffington Post.

Listen, I will make fun of HuffPo until the day I die, but they aren't really lolcow material.
At best, they're absolute shit-tier bloggers with an agenda and a fucking hilariously bad userbase, and they really don't deserve a thread here.

Some of their writers, on the other hand....

It's not just HuffPo. News sites, no matter how shitty, aren't really our wheelhouse. I seriously disagree with having Breitbart and such given their own threads as well.

Anyway. Locking this. If you have additional information that these morons do, indeed, need a thread devoted solely to them, let me know and I'll re-open it.

The South African subsidiary of HuffPo is their newest division, so perhaps the people in charge there aren't as experienced and clever as the other international subsidiaries.

I actually thought this at some point? Holy shit.

HuffPo is basically an organization headed up by lolcows. Many of its writers are colossal lolcows, and the protracted pants-shitting sessions it has are, in turn, the sort of thing done by lolcows. The organization as a whole is a gigantic lolcow.

Alternatively, posting lolcow-worthy material is what gathers them the most clicks/money, so that's what they make. Could be either, really.

It's pretty funny how so much of the fourth estate has gone completely mad in pursuit of the almighty dollar. And by funny, I mean horrifying.

Yep, some time February of last year, old friend.
And look where we are today. I can say, unequivocally, that the Huffington Post has only gotten worse since the locking of this thread all those many moons ago.

I like it when someone dismisses a "news" source they deem "right-wing biased" as completely fake, and then they'll use a clickbaity, over the top Huffington Post article to back up their argument. Some even claim Huffington Post is unbiased and neutral...

When my wife and I send each other links to news articles and stuff, we won't even open them if it's a HuffPo link. We just reply "HuffPo" and the other person is tasked with finding a better source.

Stopped clocks are right twice a day. I wouldn't say the Huffington Post is right that often, but something isn't automatically wrong because it's written in it.

When I was in school, we had a guest lecturer come in to talk about writing feature articles and how to write them for online news publications. One of the first things he said was, "Don't go to Huffington Post. They won't pay you for your work." I'd already been iffy because of how fucking huge their slant is, but I haven't gone on the site since I learned that.

They basically thrive on writers who think "My opinion is so important that I don't need to be reimbursed" and "Dear god, I just need to get my name out there, I'll write anything." It's awful.
