How did a forum of metalheads become such enormous bootlicking faggots?

The admin is a giant SJW and banhammered anyone who wasn't prepared to bend the knee to her.

She's also a hotpocket at REEEEEEEEsetEra, which tells you everything you need to know.

What can you expect from a moderator of REEEEEra?

The resounding theme I'm getting from this entire thread is that, as @Null once said, free speech is a principal held by exceedingly few people. In fact, people who claim to care about it are lying especially when confronted with ideas that contradict their priors. With minor exception, people want ideological consistency and convenience, and their true colors show whenever those are challenged. The fact that people in this thread are very comfortable advocating violence against actual and perceived enemies speaks to this.

Anyway, here's some more awful takes from that thread from the first page alone:
This site is an example of an actual free speech website. Null and most of the users lean right, but the Trump Enslavement Syndrome thread rags on the right constantly and doesn't get banned. Trump himself has a thread in Prospering Grounds too due to his lolcowish tendencies. No one is off limits for mockery here.

Metalarchives is just an example of when a Reset Era level retarded leftist starts a website. Nothing more, nothing less.

How did a forum of metalheads become such enormous bootlicking faggots?
Literal Reset Era moderators. That's it. Everyone else got banned and the site's Alexa rank has fallen relative to its peak. It's not even in the top 13,000 websites now.

I suspect there's also an element of snobbery about it. DSO are okay because they produce pretentious fart-huffing avantgarde stuff and therefore are okay because they're being intellectual and liking them allows them to get their nuts tickled with the smell of intellectual superiority.

Burzum, on the other hand, was the work of a literal basement dwelling autist incel who sperged out in an act of white male entitlement and weaponised privilege.

This also explains why they seem to line up to bag on Pantera as well. Yes, Pantera, post Far Beyond Driven, went to shit with their endless drama amongst each other, but because they were rednecks and endlessly proud of it, they're the music of stereotypical Trump voters with their tough guy act (the Five Minutes Alone incident springs to mind), the fact that they emerged from the South, and similar. They're unsophisticated dudebros, while DSO are French and thus classy and do everything better.

(Incidentally, I wonder how much Trump voter hatred is based on just plain snobbery. An awful lot, I suspect.)
I don't follow MA forums closely, but elsewhere on the internet DSO are top of the list of no-no bands for Nazi connections, along with Burzum and Mgla. Anthony Fantano and other left wing critics don't even publish reviews of their albums anymore. I think they're one of the best black metal bands of the last few years (it's not like you can really identify lyrical pretentiousness in bands with screamed vocals anyway), but anyone expecting black metal to be free of Nazis is stupid.

Bashing on Pantera probably has some anti-redneck bias, but it's more just the same kind of old "it's popular so I hate it" mindset that made UltraBoris give Master of Puppets 0% for a laugh. They were the last huge metal band to go platinum aside from borderline stuff like nu-metal, so they got a particular concentration of that sort of hate. Songs like Strength Beyond Strength and Regular People still crush so I don't care.

For what it's worth, BastardHead, one of the site's most insufferable leftists, is a Pantera fan, so I really don't think that was mostly political.

NO LINKING TO BITCHUTE, GUYS!
Metal-Archives Bans Bitchute.png

That's funny, why does Metal-Archives still link me to Varg's website from the Burzum page which features links to all of his "writings" and his RPG? I mean why is it okay to link me to a convicted murderer's personal website but it's not okay to link me to some dumb teenager's NSBM project's page just because it's on Gab or whatever?

Grandfather clause basically. While Morrigan herself was always far left, right wing content wasn't banned in the way it is now back in the 2000s. Varg has obviously been on the site since then and his links have stayed. I think new far right artists still get archived on the site, but I'm not sure what would happen if one of them released a Bitchute exclusive record.

Just this month alone, Metal-Archives accepted three different RAC bands, so yes, artists of all creeds that play Metal get accepted provided they have a valid source of distribution. Their music must be either released in a physical format (CD, vinyl, cassette, et cetera) or available for download/streaming from a valid channel of distribution (Amazon, Bandcamp, Spotify, iTunes, et cetera).

That said, I'm wondering what will be the fate of those who write neutral or positive reviews of such music. Will the site be willing to accept such opinions or will they filter them out?

Will anyone even review any of these records? The forum/review section is kind of dead at this point compared to a decade ago and there are practically no right wing users left. I wouldn't expect any reviews to even be submitted.

NSBM and that sort of stuff gets reviewed every now and then. Usually by one of the few regular forum users still hanging on. They almost always get extremely negative reviews with the reviewer pretending it's because the music is just that bad and not the fact they're far right, but everyone who knows the community knows the deal.

A far right band did a thing, stop the presses

That's legit neat packaging

I mean I wouldn't pay 50 bucks for it even if it was my favorite band (and I am not a fan of PN) but it's neat

Inflation in vinyl prices is pretty high. If you want a small band's custom art sleeved vinyl you're unfortunately shelling out 40-60 anyway, and for more famous bands making consoomer "collectible" vinyl releases for hipsters it can run into the 100+ range.

So apparently, there's a controversy brewing with bands being slated to play a Finnish Metal festival called Steelfest because several bands are diametrically opposed politically. Sodom, Dismember, Deicide, Dark Funeral and Shape of Despair were slated to play alongside "Nazi" bands like Inquisition, Nokturnal Mortum, Satanic Warmaster, Horna and Graveland. Sodom has officially withdrew from the festival and released the following statement on their Facebook page:
Hey pals! To get it right up front. Once again, we distance ourselves from bands that abuse their musical platform to express their political views, whether right or left, to the outside world. But we stand for freedom of expression for everyone and we won't let that talk us to death. When the Steelfest promoter booked the show with us at the end of 2019, these supporting acts and the billing were not even up for discussion. So we have a valid guest performance contract. We are currently clarifying the legal situation. We generally perform on behalf of ourselves and our fans and not for the other bands.

The politically correct bands, whatever that means, are in the majority at Steelfest. Will they all cancel their performance? We will definitely talk to the organizer again about this situation and will form our own judgment.

We can't always please everyone and we don't want that at all, but if we have to bow to some kind of political pressure every time, then we artists/musicians can soon quit our jobs. And after 40 years in this exciting business, I don't need any instructions about what to do or not.

We have a strong fan base in Finland and many are happy to see Sodom again receiving a special setlist exclusively. After this long dry spell, we are of course happy to be playing in Finland again. This is our job, our passion. That's what we are living for. We won't let that talk us to death either and decide for ourselves. We will of course keep you up to date on the current state of affairs.
But don`t forget…Sodom stands for freedom, peace, justice and democracy. And that's all that counts. Cheers ,)/
Others have since followed suit, and from the looks of it, only the following will be playing: Horna, Sargeist, Havukruunu, Lie in Ruins, Warmoon Lord, Bonehunter, Torture Killer, Perdition Winds, Chamber of Unlight, Morgal, Malum and DJ Mynzig.

Of all these supposed Nazis, only Graveland has any true claim to Nationalism. Rob Darken has never been shy about his views, and even though his music is less focused on Nationalism, he still firmly shares those convictions. Nokturnal Mortum has long since abandoned politics, although because they're still willing to play shows with NSBM bands, they might as well be Nazis. Inquisition's tenuous links come courtesy to the frontman Jason "Dagon" Weirbach's Noise/Electronic side-project 88MM which released a song "14 Showerheads, 1 Gas Tight Door" on the Satanic Skinheads Propaganda compilation Declaration of Anti-Semetic Terror. Bear in mind he has disavowed being a Nazi, although he was entangled in a case involving child pornograph of which he maintained his innocence. Satanic Warmaster has always rode the line, but never went full Nazi. Lauri Penttilä's label Werwolf Records has released albums by NSBM bands Goatmoon and Hammer, but the edgiest Satanic Warmaster has ever gotten was a song "Black Metal Death" also featured on the previously mentioned Satanic Skinheads Propaganda compilation. That song features a Hitler sample as the intro. Horna has never been political apart from shitting on Antifa, although they played a show with Peste Noire and that still chafes the usual suspects.

Metal-Archives reacts as you would predict (a):

Epically owning the nazis by withdrawing from the show so only the nazis are playing is absolutely genius. It's like reverse deplatforming, hurting yourself while doing nothing to them.

Angelripper's statement wasn't actually that bad and was released before Sodom pulled out, I'm assuming they eventually pulled out due to pressure from faggots instead of their own convictions since he clearly didn't give a shit himself. A shame that a potentially great festival has been ruined by the far-left moral busybodies that have embedded themselves in the metal scene. I wish they'd all Riley Gale themselves and leave the rest of us in peace already.

All this far-right metal talk reminded me to go check out more RABM bands. I just find the entire concept of RABM fascinating since black metal with political stances has, at least in perception, been largely dominated by right-leaning bands.

Ah, Red/Anarchist Black Metal, or as Hipster Black Metal dubs it, Really Awful Black Metal:

Bear in mind there were always radical leftist musicians within Black Metal prior to the development of RABM with Argentinian band Profecium releasing music as early as 1994, but the impact radical leftism had within Black Metal wouldn't be felt until North American Hipsters and Crust Punks developed an interest in Black Metal. Hyperpoliticization and the rise of internet-based activism during the respective presidencies of Bush, Obama and especially Trump accelerated the development of this specific niche. The first platform for these acts was Myspace. The vast majority have since been forgotten, but others continue to make music.

To better understand why RABM is such a joke, you have to first understand why it simply doesn't make sense given the history of the scene. NSBM acts formed as part of a long, natural development from musicians' collective fascination with blood and soil along with Norse Heathenry whereas RABM (or AFBM) has always been a shoehorned reaction to NSBM. Arguably, the first true NSBM band was German act Absurd who, as In Ketten, played covers of RAC/Viking Rock bands Endstufe and Ultima Thule. The infamous "The Night and the Fog" compilation put NSBM on the map, featuring Absurd and several Polish NSBM acts Fullmoon, Gontyna Kry, Graveland, Thor's Hammer, Thunderbolt and Veles. As a matter of fact, NSBM was instrumental to the development of Polish Black Metal as a whole.

There is no greater testament to Nationalism's relevance within Black Metal than the sheer number of Nationalist artists that outnumber the absolutely paltry sum of lefty acts. If you just go onto Metal-Archives advance search feature and separately query common lefty topics in the lyrical themes (Anticapitalis*, Anarch*, Marx*, Communis*, Antifascis*, Antinazi*, Antiracis*, Feminis*, Leftis*, Leftwing) separately along with "Black*" in the genre field, you will get 170 lefty Black Metal bands at the absolute most if you don't double-count bands. Conversely, entering "Black*" in the genre field and common Nationalist topics in the lyrical themes separately (Aryan*, National Socialism, White Nationalism, Nationalism, Racism, White Supremacy, Tradition*, Fascism) reveal over 900 bands. This isn't even counting the Nationalist musicians who keep their politics separate from the music. Of course, there's also the ambiguous "Politics" or "Social issues" category, but even if we assume every band under the ambiguous category of politics is left-wing, that would only give us a grand total of 340 bands when you don't double-count.

RABM is, quite bluntly, a forced meme.

That all makes sense. Like I said, I just find the concept interesting. I listen to Burzum even though I think Varg is walking human waste cuz it's good music and he's not generally screaming "Reeee kill all niggers" in the songs. Being proud of your country/heritage/whatever is totally fine and I like Norse mythology shit.

e: conversely, I just listened to "Dead Loons" off of Panopticon's (who the internet says are RABM) newest album and thought it was pretty good but I always kinda liked that... I dunno the actual term, it just sounds like a wall of noise. It sounds... big. Same reason I like Subliminal Genocide by Xasthur
