How would you know if someone has manipulated your memory?

you can manipulate someone's memory by introducing a photosensitive gene into their neurons, finding out what neurons light up when they remember something, then cutting open their head and exposing those neurons to the specific wavelength of light that makes them deactivate (if you want to remove a memory they have) or activate (if you want to implant a false memory)
you would probably have a gap in your memory like a disk drive being unable to read a bad sector, or you would have no idea how that memory connects to everything else
on the other hand a therapist could just lie to you, which is easy to tell because they always involve your family or friends

If your memory doesn't align with the facts, then either your memory is faulty or your memory has been altered.

As for how to determine which it is, you'd need to prove you're right in contradiction to the alleged truth. For example, if you had chocolate cake on your birthday, but everyone else remembered it being strawberry and even the evidence suggests you're wrong (such as a receipt), you'd need to find stronger evidence (such as a piece of cake in the back of the freezer you saved, which is assumedly chocolate if you're correct).

If the cake is strawberry then you're wrong, and if you concoct implausible conspiracy theories as to why it's not chocolate, then odds are you are insane.

Nah man, it’s always the Mandela effect everyone else is wrong but me!

Maybe that’s your issue your experiencing a Mandela moment. You should make a YouTube video about your experience.
