How to Remove Activate Windows Watermark

Updated my pc a couple of days ago and now all of a sudden a watermark saying "Activate Windows" has appeared in the lower right side of my screen. Windows is telling me to buy another license. Madness! I ain't paying $180 to remove a watermark. Are there any work arounds?
