Serious question. I have no idea what this shit is and I got it from a resume assistance program.

I found a Reddit thread on Brave search which said to file it as a business expense and business income, then put it under 1040 as "other income" but Redditors are shady as fuck and think men in dresses are women.

Have you tried using the tax offices website and searching for that particular term or label and seeing if it applies?

Otherwise try asking a jew

This doesnt explain my situation, though. The IRS thinks everyone who gets this form is a self-employed contractor, but i'm not. I provided no service.

When I tell people skilled with taxes that it came from an assistance program, they have no idea why I got it. I guess I could just call the IRS but if there's any government agency to be afraid of, it's them.

Receiving assistance from a program is not freelance work. I am not providing a service, I am not a business, I'm just a student. They gave me money and now I have to file this bullshit form.

I think this form may have fucked me out of my tax refund because all these IRS free file sites charge to file 1099-NEC. They think i'm an Uber driver or some other shit.

fuck it i'm just putting it on my 1040 as misc income

If its an assistance program from the feds then shouldnt it be reported as government benefit income or whatever they call it there

Otherwise cant you ring the assistance provider?
