This sounds like starting out on any number of RPGs, so you probably should wander around until you find some low-level enemies to fight, like slimes or rats. Save the money they drop and upgrade your weapon, armor, and homosexuality signaling device. If you find a shop with the right leather armor, you might not even need the ascot.
