Yesterday I was buying groceries and saw a blood pressure monitor on sale. My thought of "do I really need this right now when I am trying to spend a little less" was overwhelmed by the thought of "AM I REALLY THAT FUCKING OLD THAT I AM CONSIDERING BUYING THIS THING?!"
I've been having the "getting old" conversations with someone lately. The realization is not so much of a gradual thought but more of an onslaught of "thing that would have never occurred to me when I was younger is now screaming at me to calm down or I'll die doing something stupid like getting out of bed, or stretching wrong".

Can't sleep, every time I almost pass out I have hallucinations and it freaks me the fuck out. Of course my worsening sleep cycle and the stress from the hallucinations makes them fucking worse.

Been a bit of an annoying day. Found out today that my previous insurance company that I had auto and renter's with, decided to not only take out auto like I had requested, but take renter's too. So I had to deal with a couple of shithead offshore-like agents. One prick, even though I was the first in line to have a live chat with, decided in his infinite wisdom, transfer me to a phone agent. Like what the fuck dude? And even though I gave my number, the call kept looping so that, everytime I answered, the automated message kept telling me "sorry, we couldn't reach you, we'll try again in a few moments".

Stupid motherfucker.

Apartment management double charged me and while I would've preferred a refund, they just applied credit to next months rent. A whole $5...wooo...I could use the $5 in my possession more than the oncoming raping that will be rent since we've entered the last quarter of the year. It won't matter if it's $5 off, I'll be looking to see rent crack over $900+ because of the gas charges inflating everything. But at least I'd be paying $895 than $900. Fuck me.

I don't know why still that I continue to invest my time partaking in social platforms. Reddit has really made it discouraging to do anything there. My entire post history is riddled with removals from their shitty filtering system, automod removals, next to no view increases and little interaction. I've always known Reddit was a Grade-A shithole, I'm just wondering why I bother.

I'm going to be on edge and feral since October and November both are my most difficult months. I'm threading a very tight financial situation where, any wrong move could upset a budget or a payment is fucked. Trying to enjoy anything is harder when all I can think about is how am I going to stretch this week and the next while bundling bad impulses and whatever bullshit that could come around the corner.

Just for tolerating this year's shit in general, I'm rewarding myself big in December.

Sibling is angry with me because I haven't been visiting our father, who is depressed because it's been nearly a year since our mum/his wife died. Father is happy to talk with me on the phone, but he struggles with seeing me in person because of how much I resemble mum, and told me that he'd rather we stick to phone calls.

I tried talking about the situation with a friend, but my friend got angry and said that my father is being a dick.

I don't know what to do.
He’s not being a dick, he’s grieving. However this is a thing that is extending his pain, and hurting you so it’s worth trying to resolve. If he’s ok to talk in the phone I’d do that, I’d reassure him that you get it, but that at the same time you do want to see him. Ask him how you could make that work. Is he worried for example that if he sees you around a family gathering he will break down? if do then a short one on one meeting might be best or you plus one other trusted close and chill person. Just keep talking.

Ok these are a thing. It’s like when you have that sensation of tripping or falling when you are falling asleep. They’re called hypnagogic hallucinations. They’re not uncommon but can be extremely alarming. It seems to be the brain revving up the dream engine before fully putting you under. Stress and tiredness makes it worse. I would encourage you to not fall asleep on your back, and if you have t already, get a sleep study; in some rare cases it can be linked to narcolepsy. Now the better news - it’s a brain state linked to creativity, and also to being able to lucid dream. I would see if you can try to reframe it, rather than fearing it.
