Piped-in music should be on the list of workplace dangers if its loop is too short, or the same every day. Hazard pay for workers starts as soon as it flips over to the Christmas fiscal season.

...at this point, I'd take Christmas music over the bruteforced top charters - at least that one has a dozen scoops of golden oldies... and All I Want For Christmas, but I can tank one dead horse.

They just need to replace the version:

Christmas store music is its own beast. There are the oldies you recognize, almost no "carols," and then a bunch of really bland songs about Christmas that don't even have an identifiable name or time period, just audio filler. But smaller stores cheap out here and put on the 24/7 Christmas radio station (that changes format after Thanksgiving here) so it's not just repeats, it's commercials too.

...I wonder how much people would pay to change the overhead music at a store they're shopping at. Set it up like a jukebox, but with the cost much higher. Put 4'33'' in the rotation and let some well-moneyed aesthete or sperg pay you $80 for four plays and have silence from the PA system for 20 minutes of grocery-getting. This could make bank.

I can't stand that Muzak they play in public spaces to deter yoofz from loitering. I hate the reason behind it, why can't we just punish people who behave like amoral shits in public, for one thing, rather than rely on piped in, synth versions of Greensleeves?

Also I hate music in supermarkets. It's frequently too loud and obnoxious. I finish work early hours of the morning and sometimes go to the grocery store on the way home but I have tried to do so less because they always have the music on really, really loud.

…I guess that’s why Muzak is not needed! Actual authority to punish antisocial public behavior is…really very nice. I was worried for a while about doing a “wrong” thing, but in other countries and systems it boils down to “don’t act like the people we snark on here.”

Vinegar is better for cleaning than store-bought chemical cleaners. Dilute it with some water and wash everything with it: kitchen, floors, bathroom, shower, etc. Including windows. It's child and pet safe. It removes calcium build up on your showerhead too. Put your showerhead into a plastic bag with vinegar. After a night the holes will be all clear and you'll have full pressure again. It is also cheaper than the store-bought cleaning supplies.

Vodka is a miracle cleaner. Wardrobe people in ballet companies use it to kill odors and disinfect costumes.
It can also be used to clean windows, mirrors, etc.
3 parts water/1 part vodka makes a nice spray. It can be used straight too.

No tips here, looking for some.

How in FUCK do I prevent sand from getting literally. Everywhere? And deal with dry heat. I moved from a cold US state to a desert climate abroad. Climactically, like Arizona.

Sand and dust everywhere. In my books, my hair, my sheets, even my fucking pants sometimes.

I’m going nuts trying to keep everything not dusty as fuck.
Try a leaf blower.

I have some swing top bottles and carboys that have some form of sediment stuck to them. I've tried bottle brushes of every size, letting them soak in a mixture of Dawn soap and water, cleaning my dishwasher twice before running a cycle with them in it, and they're still stubborn.
Is there a better way to remove these stubborn sediments?

can i dry whites and colors together or do they have to be separate
Better separate. It can still bleed if the clothes are wet, and even if not, you're mixing the lint.

what is the best way to clean piss and shit from a shag carpet? for some reason, my dog really enjoys shitting on the carpet despite me taking him out on frequent walks
You're boned. Toss the carpet. Your dog and the shag are fundamentally incompatible.

Get one of those enzyme cleaner sprays that digests shit, piss and vomit on the spot. Just got to leave it overnight. You can get aerosol foaming ones that will really get all the way into your carpet.

If the stains have 'aged' a bit, it may not help. Also, depends on what the dog is eating. I also suggest getting rid of the carpet and keeping the dog confined to a room with tile (vinyl or linoleum, either works) when you aren't there to supervise.

PL caring for difficult pets:
I have a similar problem that I've been coping with since March. Lovely Traditional Siamese rescue cat with sad backstory; not only hates the rest of my cats but also poops outside her box. When I first got her she had terrible diarrhea and was sick so it smelled like death. I did so much washing and cleaning the first couple of weeks that I nearly lost it, but that poor soul was so traumatized I could not give her up. I work a lot, so -- I got a tall critter gate, and she now has her own room. Hardwood floors, but I have the open parts covered with layered newspaper 'in case'. On a good diet now; doesn't smell but still has some loose poop, using her box more regularly. She can see and hear my other cats through her gate, she's gotten less reactive but still scared. Heartbreakingly affectionate toward me, getting less hostile to the sight of my other cats. Long hard road, but we love them, right?

Late to the thread but I have two carpet tips for y'all:

Clean your carpet pet stains with a wet-dry vac. You can buy a square with holes in it that you leave over the [cleaner you have worked into the spot then/after the rinse water] from Ebay for like $40. Rinsing does more of the cleaning work than the alleged enzyme cleaners.

Hydrogen peroxide at high concentration cleans carpet stains better than ANYTHING. I have 17 year old white high pile carpet (fite me) and it still looks 85% great. H2O2 6% ( got it off amazon but hair bleach 20 is the same I think) and once a month run the Hoover Pet Pro carpet cleaner that looks like a vacuum. Fill the soap tank at half or one-quarter strength and the rinse tank with water just off the boil. Send in your warranty card because these things get fucked up easily but Hoover is very good about sending another unit.

I have one stinky shoes tip too: prevent this by spreading a thick layer of baby diaper rash cream on your feet overnight. The Desitin or Beaudroux Butt Cream or walmar generic variant. The thick white stuff. I got this tip off Reddit 15 years ago by some Russian poster and never saw it posted ever again. My feet didn't stink again for a couple years and I reapeated the treatment and now they are still cured. No Sox Cru represent.

OK, I'm intrigued! What was the frequency of the foot zincing? Just once, or something like every night for a week? Is there a psalm I need to recite while doing it?

Anyone have any advice on how to get sunscreen stains off whites?

I've tried white vinegar, baking soda, bleach and Vanish oxy action and soaking for several days in all of the above, but the yellowing seems to be permanent. :suffering:

I bought one of these wands from the Dollar store, filled it with dish soap and keep it in my shower. Every time I shower I do a quick scrub of the walls, tub and corners etc. and its made a huge difference with keeping mildew and stains away.

GM M'am's of KF. I am a moid in search of enlightenment. What are your thoughts on tumble dryer brands?

I must do the needful and acquire a new one, but I am still pondering what to get. I have lurked mumsnet to acquire knowledge, and I am leaning towards either a fancy Bosch Series 6 model or some budget one from Beko or something.

I thought I might as well ask here too?

Whirlpool but specifically either a really old reliable one, or one that was made 2015-2020.

Depending on your environment, adding a splash of vinegar to the soap mix in there will help with water stains.
