https://youtube.com/watch?v=mPignjJSGbs The guy who made this video is a bit of a fag but nothing too awful, what brought this topic to me. Also check out the Indie Hell Zone article. And also a recap since this was mentioned in this thread.
>Autistic Hotline Miami fan nearly kills himself trying to make a spin-off
>Turns Persona into his life and therefore his game
>Is surprised that his bait and switch from Hotline Miami into Hotline Persona (art tracing and heavily "inspired" elements from Persona) is poorly received
>Digs himself a deep hole by getting upset that the game he promised was originally discontinued and when it came back it was turned into a weeb Hotline Miami as mentioned
>Insults and attacks fans and trolls alike including the ones giving him money from Patreon
>Eventually releases game into two separate entities, a game and a visual novel
>They're both shit
>The game is edgy, disorienting, unnecessarily hard, questionable mechanics, soundtrack is awful and unfitting weeb shit, writing is garbage
>The Visual Novel is more garbage writing but now excessively long, more novel than visual
>There's another version of the game included
>It's more polished
>It's "not for you, the people I promised this game to"
>Lolok
>Dev quits because he shot himself in the foot at every opportunity, essentially took the money he did get from his patrons and ran
>Life is essentially ruined, unhireable, can't socialize, everyone he ever knew left him behind
Surprised he hasn't killed himself honestly. Remember kids, if you're going to be autistic, set your sights on what you promised first and take care of yourself above all else.
lol what a faggot. It's basically what we see over and over at the indie scene, every new dev thinks the sun shines out of his ass and rather than make a fun game feel the need to reinvent the genre and engage with the critics. This leads to games taking 10 times longer to make so either no one cares or the budget runs out.

Has anyone read the comics? Are they good?
I know that Wildlife is post-2016 and thus likely unreadable (plus the story in H:M was never really the draw)
Also OTXO is allegedly the game if you want more topdown action but I haven't played it yet

Supposed unreleased Hotline Miami 2 animated trailer

Video description on YouTube:

"This unfinished trailer has been floating around private channels for years now, but nobody has posted it publicly. Devolver Digital probably commissioned it, but nobody's sure who exactly made it. It seems to depict Miami in its final days of HLM2, after the coup but before the nukes drop. So many questions to ask about this thing. It honestly looks good, even if the events shown don't match what we see in the game. Who animated it? Why was it scrapped? Who initially leaked it? I wish I had some answers.Since it's right up this channel's alley, I thought you would find it interesting as external cut content of sorts.According to a deleted post..."The guy who originally posted this had a friend who worked a studio that was commissioned to make a trailer for Hotline Miami 2 but it eventually got scrapped due to the story changing while in development & something about this character or the world around him didn't fit anymore. This specific trailer was meant to show a scenario where '50 Blessings' ideologically took complete control; Becoming the norm, and things got completely out of hand.""

I think OTXO is really fucking good. I've never finished a run because it gets insanely sweaty the closer you get to the end due to enemy/environment modifiers, but if you just want to play something where you go deaf shooting shit and kicking in doors while grungy as fuck techno music plays, I have yet to see anything better.
