Undertale is pretty much dead at this point, but i wonder, what do you people actually think about the game?

Not bad but definitely overhyped tbh, and the story/characters are terrible. Literally over 90% of monsters are murderous psychopath who deserved to be killed on sight especially Undyne and Mettaton. And Toriel is creepy as fuck, I mean you haven't even met her for a week and she already considered you as her "children".

With all the weirdos spawning from it I can't say it got the attention it deserved, nothing deserves a deranged fandom like that. Maybe it was overhyped but at the time I played it I really knew nothing about it. Never finished it but I enjoyed what I played, it was pretty funny, and I would have never thought about it again if all these fags on the internet didn't bring it up all the time.

It's good. Hindsight being 20/20, it's fine, but it was mostly unique for it's time. Deltarune seems like it's the same concept, but better built. It deserved the attention it got, absolutely, it was a trend setter. But just like every other indie game people are sick to death of hearing about, it's hard to separate the hype, the fandom, the constant noise about it from the actual product.

Tried to play it multiple times just couldn't really get into it. Never really paid attention to the hardcore fanbase which seemed like a good call. It's sitting in the backlog might go back and give it another shot one day. Been able to learn not to get caught up in AAA game hype but get burned on an indie every now and then and I put Undertale in that category. Didn't hate it it just wasn't for me.

I really like the music, the pacifist run ending is better then the genocide run but it's hilarious if you do 'genocide run then pacifist run' because everything good you did in pacifist gets undone by the "twist" end lol.
Toby is also the same music guy who helped out with Homestuck tunes isn't he?
I haven't seen much of the sequel ...
Deltarune isn't done yet (only two chapters finished) but it's essentially an Undertale AU but this one is canon? Yeah.

The music was excellent, and it had its funny moments.

It was good overall. It wasn't "best game ever made" level, but the combat was fun, the music was good, and the characters were enjoyable to interact with. The fanbase and explosive popularity probably soured a lot of people on it with their sperging, but I've waded through worse fandoms, and found the game fine when I played it myself. Not really interested in Deltarune, though, since it feels weird to just reuse the same characters, but in a different universe where they aren't really the same. Maybe I'll give it a shot when it's done in 10 years.
Toby is also the same music guy who helped out with Homestuck tunes isn't he?
Yeah, he contributed a lot of tunes on the bigger Flash animations. Before "Megalovania" was the Sans Undertale music, it was the Vriska Serket music, and he had made it for an Earthbound hack even before that.

I liked the music and characters but I was getting constant whiplash from all the characters going from random access humor retards to deadly serious at a a drop of a hat. Just play DeltaRune, IMO.

it's hilarious if you do 'genocide ruecause everything good you did in pacifist gets undone by the "twist" end lol
pretty late but here's a tip: the genocide flag doesn't generate until you formally destroy the current world, meaning that you can just kill sans (and abuse him whatever times you want), and reset the game, then everything will still remain normal.
Confirmed and tested by myself.

Was very overhyped and impossible to avoid but I like it. I found it funny and enjoy the gameplay, music and characters. Can't wait for Deltarune chapter 3.

The fanbase is AIDS personified, but it was a fun game, played on RPG tropes pretty well, brought good gameplay ideas of it's own, and offered a lot to explore.

Honestly, it did having a gay character pretty well too. It didn't play like the developer was looking for head pats, it just played like "Alphys is gay, who fucking cares." Other game developers could take note that most people don't care if your character is gay but if, out of nowhere, Mario stops the action, looks into the camera and says "Woo-hoo i'm-a power bottom." nobody is going to like that.

Great game with charming characters and a good story, and Toby Fox is a fantastic composer who doesn’t take himself too seriously despite the fame. But it’s definitely not for everyone due to the quirky writing, and the art style is an acquired taste and a bit Tumblr-esque (I don’t know why that one scene with Bratty and Catty is in all the trailers since it’s arguably the most Tumblr thing in the game).

Deltarune, on the other hand, is already better despite being only two chapters in. The art is much better (with a different main artist), the soundtrack is better, the gameplay is more ambitious, and the story is too early to tell but good so far. Toby said Deltarune was the game he always wanted to make while Undertale was a prerequisite (and to him, an 8/10), so I’m curious to see where it goes.
