The season pass BS doesn't look promising and war games looks like it will be the "not fun" version of escalating difficulty like the remasters campaigns were. At least I can say I got the remastered collection on giveaway and did not bother to get far into those campaigns because they punish you for doing well. Which the originals did not do nearly as excessively.

Cataclysm 2 never. The "Age of Troonjet" will be the death of this franchise. No one cares about individual characters because its supposed to be everyone is a small cog in a very large machine working together to navigate the vast astral desert of deep space. Hell we still don't know the name of the Kuun-lan's captain and his speech he gave to the Bentusi was the best part of the story. Sjet on the other hand just seems like some simp's waifu given how "WE'RE COMING RACHEL!" is the fucking tagline of Deserts of Kharak and in all the trailers.

I'm amazed Mandalore didn't put that in his Deserts of Kharak video. Since its in every cutscene too but even he seemed concerned about the renewed focus on a character whose story arc was already completed. Would make more sense for a new person to take on her role in the new mothership since they are the Hiigaran PEOPLE and not just Sjet. At least in war games.

Why do they never fire management staff? Its like the fucking bourgeois all over again with these fucks taking up salaries multiple times higher than the average person actually making the games. While they do nothing but make the workplace terrible for everyone and jump ship to ruin another formerly recognizable studio when the games inevitably flop because they fucking fired everyone before they could actually finish what they were making.

The entirety of the last decade to present consists of almost nothing but that happening across the industry.
 
Personally think the story is hot trash and dont care for the forced WWBM diversity bullshit in the main campaign and the black narrator is the same guy who is the ship XO for helldivers 2. Only cared for the war games mode and it was just as bad as I'd imagined. But with roguelite elements this time and a much much better camera control than the remasters where its much more intuitive and easy to get the hang of and a lot of attention to detail in the fights with persistent damage.

I also remember playing homeworld on my phone with a demo that I wasnt impressed with. It was pretty but the controls didnt work half the time. Turns out Homeworld mobile is a thing and I was not crazy.

I'm saddened but not surprised to see that 3's writers do not understand what made 1 and Cataclysm's stories engaging. The focus on multiplayer is expected, people seem to be allergic to treating the single-player campaign as anything but an extended tutorial.
 
Homeworld 3 released as we know, and already it's getting shit on. For good reason from what I can tell. I figured it was going to be piss poor from what I've seen from some people talking about it (Volound for example) but by God it's worse than I thought.

They're part of the culture cult, they're the fucks that decide which diversity hire to replace the functioning worker with. Can't get rid of them either, they'll just fail upward and latch on to another company like the parasites they are, meanwhile the actual people that are actually working will get fucked over.

Homeworld 1 will forever remain the best version of the game. Everything about it is perfect, including the difficulty curve when you reach the Gardens of Kadesh. The level design, environment, art, the stupendous voice acting, minimalist cutscenes that show little but explain and evoke a lot make really make the sum of the game greater than its individual parts. I mentioned it before in another thread, but Adagio for Strings was made for this game's intro scene.
 
So fucking pissed, really wanted to buy this. Anyways 🥱 waiting for the torrent to drop.

Its fucking great I actually suggest you buy it. (If you don't want the remasters it does come with the original versions but I don't know how well they run on modern systems)


Edit: I forgot that if you do make sure you get the community patch from the Workshop if you get it through steam. It fixes plenty of bugs and adds in an option to disable ship scaling which they implemented in Homeworld 2 and for some reason Homeworld 1 Remaster.

I know all the purists and grognards love shitting on HW2 and DoK for shortcomings in both gameplay and story, but I think they look pretty good next to this abomination.
