You can use the alternative route through Exhaust Organ on Sinner's Route for a more direct path (although it requires you going to defeat Phantom) or take the left path in Wisp Thicket, that one leaves you more or less where the elevator fell, in Underworks, after that you just do the regular path until you're in Choral Chambers.

Edit: Nvm
If you've killed the boss in Whiteward you can cut through there from the Underworks if you go through the Wisp Thicket.

Hope Eradicated's pic shows you exactly what path I mean [it's the middle one]. Just make sure you clear that up first, no need to deal with any bosses AND the meat.

I freaking love the dancers boss theme.
Also, there is a confirmed homosexual in the game, but you can leave him in jail forever.

Also I really gotta hand it to them, there is lots of song and lots of silk, and also lots of bells.

After completing most of act 2 and throroughly exploring most of the areas, here are my impression.

Holy fuck once you fully unlock Hornet's movement the platforming feels so much better than Hollow Knight. The clawline is awkward to use at first but when you learn how to properly take advantage of it, it becomes extremely useful, plus you can now bully the flying enemies. Of course getting both the grappling hook and especially the double jump is a fucking via dolorosa, Mount Fay in particular being possibly as hard as White Palace was, but it's so worth it. I tried Path of Pain in HK and the platforming now feels so slow, and I still can't really beat it because apparently I'm not masochistic enough. Many sections in Silksong are almost as hard, but with Hornet's more versatile movement you won't suffer as much (you will still suffer, a lot)

Bilewater fucking sucks, it's such an aneurysm inducing area and I'm glad I did it pretty much when I had most nail upgrades and fully upgraded tool damage, cogflies, etc. Of course I cheesed the boss (architect crest + flies + floating traps + boomerang, stay at the right corner in the water and the boss will never hit you, then you hit him with the boomerang and place floating traps when he comes, the flies are to kill the gauntlet that comes beforehand)

The Cogwork Core is also pretty painful but I did it without double jump, with double jump it's much better and it feels like it was intended to be done with double jump after all. The gay robots were a fun boss too. I love the soundtrack of both the boss and the area. Choral Chambers has the best theme, but it's not as good as City of Tears was.

I'm glad little Sherma is alive unlike his spiritual predecessor Myla, but the poor kid got traumatized by Whiteward. Speaking of Whiteward, the boss fucking sucks, I had to cheese him with Beast Crest and lifesteal, once you get the hang of it, Beast Crest eviscerates the guy.

Memorium was a cool area, and the tool you get there is fucking OP, it does wonders against Father of the Flame.

I'm liking it as much as I liked the first game so far, althought I think HK had higher highs and also higher lows, Bilewater and Putrid Ducts are legit the worst areas in the series, Groal is the worst boss, Ass Jim (Lugoli) also sucks hard, and so do the Unravelled, but at the same time Cogwork Dancers are great, Last Judge is great, and damn it's fun to destroy bosses with tools once you learn how to use them.

Decided to play Hollow Knight again since I haven't touched it since launch and didn't remember much. Up to White Palace now. So I'd like to say that I basically agree with what that guy said, but in reverse.

What's the deal with the Whiteward boss? I've seen him near the bottom of a bunch of people's tier lists but he just seemed like a normal decent boss to me and not very menacing. Why does he piss people off?

To you guys lamenting the mountain run: you can stave off the cold if you use the item that literally sets things on fire. Just turn it on and you get at least that much time with about as much immunity to cold as you deal fire damage.

Actually releasing him isn't a bad idea in the long term.

After all, you can kill him eventually. And not just 'oh he loses in a fight and looks dead', I mean actually rip his heart out.

I'm slowly beginning to think there's not going to be a shorter route for delivering this meat from bell town to old fart butler dude, but maybe I'll eventually open up that path at the blasted steps right before the grand gate and prove myself wrong.
The trick is to start from the restauraunt, work your way back to Bellhart, killing all enemies in the path so that way they don't swarm you on the way back. After that, the only real challenge is the environment hazards.

Well, what do you call 'payoff' in this case?
Anything. Something that makes doing more things easier or just feels fun and powerful to use. A fun experience in itself. A substantial step closer to finishing the game.

All I get is 3 days throwing bodies at a boss (Last Judge) to find even more bullshit ways it can kill me in 3 seconds only to unlock another boss that does the same thing (Cogwork Dancers). I dread to explore because everything I’m finding so far is just even more difficult bullshit.

Are you losing to the Cogwork Dancers? The bosses with the most telegraphed moves in the game?

Maybe it'd help if we saw what kind of equipment and upgrades you've found so far.

They move too fast in the later phases and kept getting me cornered, and delete me when I try to bind and get back.

I got six masks and a nail upgrade. I managed to get the clawline and got rewarded for it by unlocking new challenges where I have to fight flying enemies over lava. I hate it.

Got to groal and I hate the boss. even with shortcuts the runback is a nuisance (but i can still tolerate that)
the annoying shit is that its yet another contact damage reliant boss with a gigantic health bar
