Seems Gamespot finally put up their review. Didn't bother to read the whole thing, but the negatives don't seem too unreasonable (and it is true that you'll get more out of the game if you're a fan of the franchise).

I was hoping for some dialogue or something after though, nothing. Maybe I need to find Prof. Weasley some time when she's not staring blankly at a wall

Of course the article is filled with disclaimers about what a monster Rowling is and how you should give money to troon "charities". They obviously docked points due to being butthurt about the troon genocide, it's not objectively a 6/10 game by Gamespot standards.

I would love it if they just released maybe one meaty expansion and then just worked on the next game, rather than nickel-and-diming people with endless cosmetic DLC and shit. That being said, I have no doubt they will go the latter route, it's basically free money.
 
They're 100% going to release DLC. You don't get this solid of a release while also planning DLC for future releases. You make the game and then go to a meeting after intial celebration/vacation and go 'what next'.

HP is a huge IP and this is the first game outside of the 'canon' series that's made an impact.

I always cry because they hit me with their own weird terminology that I don't understand and it makes me feel stupid.
Like "ontologically evil", "stochastic terrorist", TERF, CHUD, etc.

Silvervale has described herself as "overly sensitive" before. She mentioned in the stream that video is from death threats, threats of doxing her and her family members, and something about knowing a dev and getting to see all the dogshit the troons have aimed at them.
 
Finished the game last night. I stand by my first impression rating of 7/10. The main story was fine, albeit a bit dull. The twists were predictable, but it wasn't bad enough to distract from the whole experience. I wish the game focused more on Hogwarts itself, as the countryside was pretty dull all around for the most part; I barely explored the south-eastern most part of the map because when the story finally took me there I was starting to get a bit bored of the side content. I will say, the alohomora "puzzle" is terrible and got tedious real quick. In fact, most of the puzzles in the game were pretty bad. The only ones I enjoyed were the depulso puzzles in the 2 optional rooms as they took a least a little thought.

Overall, I put about 40 hours into the game and probably won't go back, though I am looking forward to see what the devs make next.

I just cant understand it though, as sensitive as you are, you cant be any worse off than the dudes who cut their dick off and are now falling apart over a single videogame!

Death threats? These are the same as web activism is; Worthless as anything other than social validation, fuck, wouldnt be surprised to learn theres people out there actively *seeking* to get death threats for clout

Doxxing threats? Alright, they know your address and socials now, what, is the troon brigade gonna come over physically? "Go right ahead! Just know that the entire family is prepared to respond"

These people break down over their own fucking names for crying out loud
