The troon sent me on a quest that almost got me killed by a troll. I think he knows that I don't really believe he is a woman. Also, he apparently had a good friend called "Aidan" and now I'm suspicious that someone chose this name on purpose. I think "Aidan" was supposed to be an actual guy, but I didn't want to read the cringe tranny backstory letters in that quest, so who knows.

Definitely on purpose. Someone didn't like the troon inclusivity push and decided to have some fun.
Speaking of switch, how the hell is this game going to run on it? I am not playing the game, but a friend sent me some pics of the pc version and it looks incredible

I want to play it. But Switch may be my only option any time soon. I'll probably wait for performance reviews. I don't care if "Game no look az gud". But I want it to at least run well.

Gross

Getting what it deserves.
If you're buying the game because you want to and want to spite people who are bullying you into not, that's based. If you cry about it and act like you're being violated afterwards, that's fucking gay.

Even if money isn't a factor it multiplies the time budget requirement more than you think. If you're under the impression VOs are captured in one take, lol (Bethesda notwithstanding).
It's more than just doubling up as well because you don't just need two good takes rather than one, you need two good takes that more or less have parity between them.
I don't see how it could be more than doubling, since not every single line is gendered. Particularly in this game, there aren't that many instances where people refer to your character in the third person. But whenever they do, the gender-neutral "they" sticks out like a sore thumb. I'm not a game developer, but I feel recording a couple hundred (at most) extra lines would have been worth it to avoid that.

I meant for those particular lines it's more than doubled (since rather than fishing for one good take you need two that are good in the same way).
How many that is could be a big deal or not depending on the game and how it's written (and actors, and whether you just have to worry about pro principal actors or if it's gonna be spread out over everyone). It ain't optional for some localisations. I mainly just wanted to say it's not as trivial as people think... and that nobody used to care so it seems like a current_year trap you should try not to let bug you too much.

Avoiding awkward writing is obviously better and since I started paying attention I've noticed this game goes for "that new fifth year" or "seeker" most of the time anyway which is pretty typical.

Hmm, no. Programming NPCs to know if your character is male or female and recording some extra lines of dialogue is not a difficult task (I'm not talking about modding, this is a game with a big-ass budget developed over the better part of a decade). It would take less resources than modelling a few of those intricate suits of armor just strewn about Hogwarts.

Using "they" to refer to a character whose sex is known sounds like weird bugman talk. Super awkward.
As I see it it's a 2 for 1, they can virtue signal and at the same time save a few bucks. Like others have said, I don't think it would have been that many lines since in most situations, gendered language is just not needed, but when it does, it's VERY noticeable. In those cases they either phony up the cash for some extra lines (and while at it, add some extra linest hat are sex relevant), have a catch all word ("you are the mighty kalamazoo", "the kalamazoo eludes us" and so on) or bend the language in half and use retarded inclusive language, which is sadly the world we live in now. At least we know that a "set your pronouns" feature will hopefully never be a thing when it applies to voice acting for the same reason of saving some cash.

Can we do a poll for houses? I want to see what everyone else on here picked. Seemed like everyone and their grandma was going for Slytherin so I went Ravenclaw, personally. Funnily enough it seems like Gryffindor is dragging behind all the other houses, guess everyone feels like they had enough content after all the movies, but the fact that even Hufflepuff seems more popular kind of shocked me.

Hufflepuff's the quiet guy in the room that just gets shit done.

Given how many troons love vtubers, it's great that pretty much all the big JP ones are playing the game blissfully unaware of the western troon tantrums, and undoubtedly causing seethe or doublethink for the troons.
Can't raid JP vtubers' streams if you can't speak their language even though troons/the twatterati have tried cancelling the bigger Japanese names before with little to no success.

Ravenclaw for much the same reason. It was that or Slytherin and Ravenclaw didn't get much play in the books. I want to see all of the common rooms, Hufflepuff and Slytherin are covered by people I see on youtube, and I'm going to guess Gryffindor is the same as it was in the movies.
My spellcheck allows all Hogwarts house names besides Ravenclaw. The fact that they're not underlined, but lowercase "youtube" is makes me question the sanity of our culture.

I went Slytherin. Also, it was worth it to do the "collect 16 house tokens" quest that opens up the chest in the common room of your houose. You get a blinged out cloak for your house and the Slytherin one looks badass as fuck.

Ok, finally got a bug that pisses me off. Second dipulso room either didn't load correctly or reform correctly. went to look up how to do it (pissed off because it's the first thing I had to look up) and the explanation uses blocks that don't exist for me. Figure out something is fucky so I leave the room and come back. and the room is entirely different with the missing blocks in place.
I was also pissed that there wasn't a clear goal, just a vaguly foggy area that maybe probably was the exit, but that was fixed on the reload as well. Bright gold door where I was guessing you're supposed to go.

I picked Hufflepuff just because I don't vibe with any of the others. There seems to be a main story related achievement with "do x as a (house)" and for me (on Steam) it's currently at 4.7% which seems quite low to me, but I have no idea how high it is for other houses.

I've seen a little ad mat in front of the games section in Media Expert in Poland advertising Hogwarts Legacy, albeit with a localized title. It was also in stock for Xbox Series.

Generally people laugh at this controversy, but it's more often than not that people get riled up about Atomic Heart since the amount of blind hatred towards Russia in Poland fucking skyrocketed last year for obvious reasons.
