"Earlier this month, authorities [...] found a fully clothed skeleton resting among the many possessions inside a hoarder's Brooklyn home, the New York Post reports.

When the elderly woman, Rita Wolfensohn, suffered a fall in September, her sister-in-law, Josette Buchman, popped over to grab some belongings to take to the hospital. That's when Buchman came across the skeleton lying on a mattress on the second floor of Wolfensohn's Midwood home—fully intact and still wearing socks, jeans, and a T-shirt"

"But investigators now believe Wolfensohn may not have known she was living with the corpse of her son. Cobwebs and garbage filled the room where the body was found — as if “a garbage truck had dumped its load” inside, police sources said.

The room reeked of rotting food, but not of decaying flesh, the sources said.

When police questioned the ailing woman, she spoke about her son as if he had simply moved out."

"Authorities have not officially identified the body but believe the man was Wolfensohn’s son and that he died of natural causes. They would not provide a name.

According to public records, Wolfensohn had two sons, Michael and Louis. Relatives said they had not seen Louis — who today would be 49 years old — in 20 years."

EDIT: Forgot to include, this woman was legally blind. Bit of an important detail, considering,

So all Chris needs to do to get Cole to come back is to push Barb off a flight of stairs.

FTFY

Also how can you not notice a rotting corpse in your house let alone not go to a part of your house for 20 years?

I've been in hoarder houses that smelled so badly of rotten food and cat piss that a corpse might go unnoticed.

Also, look up Kendall Francois. A serial killer from New York who lived with his hoarder parents. They kept their house so gross that Kendall was able to hide like 10 bodies in it without them noticing it.

This is reminding me of another infamous hoarder case from Brooklyn: The Collyer Brothers. The younger brother set of one of the booby traps in his house and died. The older brother, Homer, was legally blind and dependent on Langley. He spent about 15 days completely oblivious to the fact that his brother was dead before he slowly starved to death himself.

She was legally, completely blind, and a hoarder, so...yeah
Still don't know how she thought her son had just moved out

But this also means that in over 20 years, not only was that woman allegedly the single person to ever visit that room (or enter the house at all given the condition the place was in overall), in a $700,000 house.

Of note is the article stating the blind woman had two sons and the other one died thirteen years ago at age 38. Cause of death not listed, but since the older brother somehow died on his back (possibly in his sleep) at age 29, the idea the family was at risk of heart attacks is not out of the question.

Still, how absolutely nobody noticed the stench of death at the time, the house falling apart driving down property values (which at $700,000 even in bad disrepair is something the homeowner's association would want to resolve), piling up mail, and the fact the family was not bothered by a relative disapearing out of the blue and all the blind woman thought was he'd moved out without making a noise...they must have been the black sheep of the family ala the Chandlers to the rest of their kin.

How did this guy just drop dead at like 29, though?

And did she really think he'd move out with no notice or even no interaction with any family in 20 years?
No friends notice he went missing? No job? Did the rest of his family really care so little about him? Job?

Maybe he committed suicide or something if his life truly was that pitiful.

That's really sad.

If it's a skeleton with no "meat" left on it (even after 20 years) you gotta wonder if rats got to it. Hoarder houses and rat infestations go hand in hand. Although apparently his clothes were intact.

Her other son also died at an early age (38). It's almost suspicious.
