Silent actress (at the time) Norma Shearer in front of the White House on July 24, 1929. Herbert Hoover was recently inaugurated a few months prior; the significance of that tidbit is that it was considered a moment of "peace" before the Great Depression.

Nicholas II of Russia hanging around with the family. During his trip he wrote a letter to her beloved wife, Alexandra with the following.

"I walked up and down the platform, thinking of you and the girls. I was struck by the stillness which reigned around—I was expecting all the time to hear the wild shrieks of Anastasia or Marie, plaguing Mordvinov. ... It was such real happiness, those six days at home!"

Nicholas II to his wife Alexandra Feodorovna, Mogilev, 26 October, 1916 [The Letters of the Tsar to the Tsaritsa, 1914-1917]

Say Myrna Loy wanted her wheels to glow orange, she could've done so. I don't think this passed the concept stage as A)the illumination could've been distracting on the road, B) you drive enough, the tires would be too dirty to even see the lights, C) they did not have enough traction in the rain.

Doris Day candidly dancing on the set of Move Over, Darling (1963.)

What's most haunting about today is that not only it is Doris Day's birthday, but it's also the death date of Gloria Swanson.
