On the 28th of June, 1914, 111 years ago today, Bosnian Serb Gavrilo Princip shot and killed the Austrian Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife, which sparked a series of events leading to the first world war.

This is a famous image of the arrest of a suspect in the killing.

The journalist who published this falsely claimed it to be a photo of the arrest of Gavrilo Princip. He was, of course, lying.

Pretty sure the default image of the most used OS of all time counts. Fun fact, the synthetic like nature of the image was achieved purely in camera, and was unintended. No major manipulation happened in post.

When operation downfall was rumored Japan drafted most of it's civilians to fight against the United States from middle aged to students to defend itself against the United States.
