I hope the voodoo ressurection reboot of the Megazone 23 franchise goes well. But I'm getting off track.

I wonder if this show would've taken off with the same lazy, on-the-nose libtard writing, but with
the aesthetics of a modern moe anime.

If it at least looked good, probably. At least it wouldn't be considered an abomination and a total scam.

Someone reuploaded it here:

I wonder why they took it down, the only Ellation-copyrighted content in it was the HGS promo art.

Rip... Looks like the upload got removed too. They really don't want people talking about that screening

Makes you think.

But at this point, I'm almost certain they're doing this whole "We don't want to reveal anything" bit on purpose.

Production is nearing the end

They still don’t have a date for it.

An /r/HighGuardianSpice mod provided a nice summary of the whole timeline: https://www.reddit.com/r/HighGuardianSpice/comments/d2haqt/timeline_of_events_so_far/
A nice thing for people like me who want to see the trainwreck, but don't want to play transpotting for over a year before it happens.

I had a moment of dread when this thread got bumped at the remembrance this show (or the concept of it) exists, but I had a sigh of relief when I saw it wasn't an update.

I hope it stays that way. Let it go quietly into the ether and the recesses of our subconsciousness to become nothing more than a whisper, a forgotten relic of its time.

Starting now: Don't Say It, Don't Think It (x8.0)!

Please and Thank You.

The promo art is just so dull and unappealing. This doesn't look like anything special because nothing special, exciting, let-alone noteworthy is going on in this promo art. Promo art is supposed to get the attended audience pumped and excited for its release by showing a sneak-peek of something that's bound to be trailer-worthy. Two witches (oh wait, Rosemary's not a witch lel) flying down an empty strip mall leaving behind who're supposed to be their BFF comrades whose running styles are just as plain as they are is not exciting no matter how you slice it.

"Steven Universe meets Little Witch Academia" (of which now HGS is way more behind the times ever since the SU movie aired) is a terrible pitch and that alone isn't enough to get a show green-lit. And here's the thing, you can do a slice-of-life magical girl show, but it needs to provide something new or fresh or different from the rest of its competition to attract an audience. And HGS hasn't provided any of that. It's too generic and safe even for its intended target audience.

I also still don't believe the blonde's a dwarf. The Powerpuff Girls reboot has a better grasp on perspective and size than all the artists who worked on this combined.

Not only is the promo art dull, it's lacks any of the supposed "anime" influence that was promised from their show. I mentioned it earlier, but if you were to tell some weeb that this was anime, they'd probably think you're crazy. Everything about this looks like the bean-mouth style found in so many modern western shows. And yes, shows like Avatar: The Last Airbender and Teen Titans have their influences, but at the VERY least, those shows are still their own. This is one of the cases in I say that they just didn't exaggerate ENOUGH. All the characters, even in scale look very uninteresting. Even the simplest anime have some sort of appeal. This entire shot is just so not-dynamic. It looks more like someone drew fanart of it. Compare that to Akira Toriyama's work of kid Goku:

Even as a short and kind of stocky child, Goku still looks dynamic in this shot. His stance and movement also tells us a lot about his personality. And these are simple things. Nothing too big, but stuff to be considered for making a character or doing promo art. This let's us wonder about where he might be going to. And obviously this is being made by a single creator compared to a company, but even other companies such as Kyoani still have dynamic characters and designs overall.

And even then, as said by @Kari Kamiya this shows us nothing about the show or what it's supposed to be about. Hell, slice of life anime are known to have really dynamic and beautiful posters that show the relationships of each character. There's nothing to gather from this. It's just bland.

This looks like a terrible fashion magazine 'shop. Why are they flying at a 45 degree angle to the street? The witch is supposed to wear a hat with a long-ass peak, where's the peak? Where's the pink chick's right leg?

If they're used to riding brooms why aren't they appropriately dressed? There are equestrian skirts for riding, although women often just wear jeans or riding pants.

I think I read somewhere that they're meant to take influence from Studio Ghibli (LMAO, rite...), but it looks more like Nippon Animation (by the same people, imo) first works.

You can see the influence there, but it's obvious which one was made by talented people.
