The OT (Bunhearts) is also Emmy nominated and the original post said she's been 2 years without a job as a storyboard. It's not just this Raye girl, it's the whole industry and a super inflation of this jobs.

Apparently nobody actually cares about the Emmy awards since literally anyone can get it as long as they hit all the right marks (in diversity). I had an instructor in college who was also an Emmy award winner, and yet she went on to teach classes probably because work in television was drying up. She sucked it up because she needed to make a living.

If she bothered focusing on a career that would actually provide her security instead of making her gay little art projects her career, she wouldn't be in this situation. In fact, she would be doing indie scene work and make her dumb projects with her own money on her own time while working on her job. But she doesn't do any of that. Many actors, like 80-90% of SAG-AFTRA, have to have other sources of income in order to make ends meet, especially in fucking California.

Not only were neither of these original to her, both were next generation takes in already successful IPs that would have done well with or without her. DC Super Hero Girls was exactly what MLP FiM would have been like had the autistic furries not happened to latch onto it. An unremarkable show shilling dolls to little girls that spent its entire existence mostly ignored.

You don't need to make high art to be considered successful in your career and frankly I don't buy the "It would have sold with or without her" line, that's a crock of shit. Look at any IP that has had bad adaptations within the past fifteen years my man, Marvel has gone down the shitter and their sales have flopped following the growing disinterest in the movies, Star Wars went from one of the largest IPs on Earth straight to the trashbin in less than five years, LoTR went from fantasy nerd juggernaut to never bringing in a new audience over the span of like two years. Normies used to like it, now they don't.

You can argue all you want about how with MLP:FIM "THE SHOW WAS ONLY SUCCESSFUL BECAUSE OF AUTISTIC FURRIES" but you're completely discounting the fact that it was still massively successful and neither of it's successors were. This is on top of the fact that while, yes, My Little Pony was a prexisting IP who the fuck had ever heard of it past the eighties? What little girl played with My Little Pony in the nineties or 2000's? The IP was effectively dead insofar as commercial interest went and FIM not only completely revitalized it but brought to previously unseen new heights. There was definitely something in the Faust adaptation that resonated with people and that the non-Faust directed adaptations clearly did not have, and when you're making a show about selling toys and it does precisely that then how is it unsuccessful? Once agin I reiterate that "success" and "artistic quality" are in no concievable way the same thing in showbiz. Most of the shows she's produced not only met with commercial success but had a dedicated fanbase that was enamored with it at the time. Hell, I remember how huge Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends and Powerpuff Girls were when I was a kid. Wander Over Yonder is still to this day considered a hidden gem and a missed opportunity for the network when and if it gets brought up.

Sure, she had help, literally everyone in the industry does. And sure, you can argue that her shows aren't profound or high art or whatever and I'd agree with you, but you cannot be as consistently successful as she's been and not have figured something out, law of averages doesn't allow it.

Factually inaccurate, the line was still very successful and the FiM stuff didn’t even net has to that big of a profit since the brony community was mostly custom made stuff.

There's been an uptick of animators (read:storyboarders) airing out their grievances and struggles of not working these past 2 years. With Cartoon Network all but gone, ai on the rise and basically every animation (actual animating) job sent overseas to Asian sweatshops, the collective solution across the industry was......go fucking unionizing/striking with Adam Conover as the spokesman of it.

With that series of events, it's hard to feel bad for people like Raye. S/He got plucked out of college and into the industry and was so glued to screens he never saw what went on around her. Why would he? Raye had her gay magic americanime getting animated, what more could he possible need?

This, and also it's a result of telling kids they all should fulfill their dreams. Just bc you like to draw doesn't mean you need to be an animator or illustrator. This person could have got an actual paying job while also enjoying art as a hobby.

I don't know if you draw or write Tatty but when you have an image or a story that needs to be told, you lose sleep over it until it's out of your head. Real life priorities be damned until it's done.In that sense, I understand Raye taking the deal of his-her young lifetime. However, I don't understand his survival instincts not kicking in when the crunchyroll checks stopped coming and the plan to hop from gig to gig wasn't happening.

Raye's parents failed. End of story. They're helping her (despite claiming to not be wealthy uhhuh) stay there instead of bringing him home to regroup and make a better plan to live stable and happy. But Raye will be homeless before doing that. Pride is one bitchy sin.

The "in-group" looks out for themselves at the end of the day. If you can't get them gigs or meals, you're just another number in the phone book. Why do you think the moment controversy hits one of them the group all wash their hands clean of them? Recent examples were Justin Roiland and TVsKyle, classic examples are Butch Hartman and Shmorky.

Raye had a below-average cartoon on crunchyroll that no one talks about anymore. So to the in-group, she's worse than useless, she's a fucking fan. Given Raye doesn't talk about current/past relationships either, bagging a rich one was never Plan B. Raye is all alone.

How do you know that? Were pitch bibles posted? A Medusa movie could work like all other ancient legend/myth stories and fanfictions have. And Faust clearly works better if she has a pre-established foundation to build on top of. Good character designer though.

They were not posted, but I have read them. I’ve said it in other threads years ago, but through my work I have had access to a literal database of materials that never made out it publicly. Tons of pitch bibles for shows released, sides for casting, art work etc.
but I’m not about to get myself or my sources doxed by showing them. I have no “good” job in the animation industry, but I’m just adjacent to it to have a first hand knowledge of it
