We had a dog a few years ago, but had to give it away because we had a newborn in the house and were worried about them getting along (don't worry, the dog went to a family friend and at last report is spoiled rotten.)
Well, we got a new dog today, now that the kids are older. I've seriously never felt this attached to an animal, and we've only had him a day. He's a husky/black lab mix and is the most chillax dog I've ever seen. He's unbelievably gentle with the kids and is willing to put up with a lot if it means they'll throw a ball and let him fetch it. He follows me and my eldest daughter around the house, practically throwing himself at our feet. He follows directions well and loves car rides (we've already taken him on two.)
This is an awesome dog and I'm damned proud to have him.
Also, my wife bought a garden tent and patio set off of Craigslist last fall. We set it up and had a wonderful lunch outside while the kids played with the dog. Such an awesome day all around.
