Re: How Was Your Day?

Long and dumb.

I woke up early today to drop my dad off at work only to remember it's Labor Day. Had coffee and French toast sticks for breakfast, and left for school ten minutes early to make sure I could get my spot at a comfortable half a mile away from my class. Class was alright. We went over basic psychology stuff (first few days and all). When I got out, I saw my friend walking past me, and since I had some time on my hands, I decided to just strike up a conversation. Yeah, that conversation lasted about two hours. I left and realized I had scheduled something with the D&D group, and began to rush home. Then I got a text from my dad saying to stay in the car as soon as I got home. When I arrived, I did just that. My brother and father rushed into the car and we got lunch. Then we had to go get clothes or something (on the bright side, I have three new shirts, and one is flannel). When we were done with that, my brother asked to be dropped off, and then we had to pick up my sister and go to the store. When we got back, my dad realized he forgot to return a movie and asked me to return it for him. I was supposed to be home at 12:30. I got home at 4:30. At least it looks like it's gonna rain.

Oh, and we had the palm trees cut, so more light's coming into my room. I love it.

Re: How Was Your Day?

Had kind of a crappy day. My youngest daughter (14 months) was crabby and running a low-grade temp all day, so I gave her Motrin every six hours and pushed fluids. Her temperature broke around early afternoon, but it came back with a vengeance this evening. She was running an oral temp of 101.5--too high for an infant. We packed up in the car and went to the emergency room about ten in the evening, only for it to be slammed full of people with tummyaches and earaches. A nurse hit our child with a big dose of Motrin and Tylenol at once, which brought the temp down a few degrees, but we ended up waiting for four hours before we could be seen by the doctor. Once we finally got to talk to him, it was less than ten minutes and we were shoved unceremoniously out the door with nothing more than a paper sack containing more Motrin and Tylenol (which we already have tons of here at home.) Hell, we were literally told "it's a virus thing, come back in two days if the temperature persists."

A "virus thing". Exact words. From a doctor. A person who supposedly went to a medical educational institution and went tens of thousands of dollars into debt--if not more--to learn how to diagnose people. I used to work in medical care myself, and I understand that prognoses aren't always exactly forthcoming, especially when you're working in a crowded ER. But come on here. This is my daughter we're talking about, a little infant running a temperature of nearly 103.0 by the time we brought her in. I want better than "a virus thing."

So now it's three in the morning, the children are packed into bed, and I've got the alarm set to go off at six-hour intervals to push more Motrin into the kiddies. And I'm having some medicine for me, too--prescribed by a certain Doctor McGillicudy.

Re: How Was Your Day?

...

A 'virus thing'. Really. Considering I'm going into a medical field, that is just...wow. The fact that he said to just come back if it persists is concerning; my infant cousin had to be rushed into the emergency room because of a fever herself recently, and they kept her there until her temperature went down. The full details of the story are a blur, but I'm rather certain that it was far more than this genius did. Seriously, I pray the poor dear will be alright, as well as the rest of your family and yourself.

Now, today I have learned that music is possibly the best medicine for myself. Whenever I crash into slumber and I'm just generally feeling muggy, listening to any kind of music tends to perk up my soul a bit, particularly video game music. Castlevania has some of the most beautiful music why have I not played this series?

OMG you just mentioned Castlevania and its beautiful soundtracks that's enough to make me sperg off a cliff

Seriously, I have Poison Mind set as my ringtone

To dial it back a bit, though, which tracks do you enjoy? I really like Iron Blue Intention.

To get back to my crappy day, though, little Isabelle is doing fine. She's a trooper.

Re: How Was Your Day?

Oh jeez, who would have thought, haha?

This will sound typical I'm sure, but I'm completely in love with Bloody Tears; it's just so magnificent, especially Castlevania Chronicles' arrange of it.

I also adore Clockwork, Tower of Dolls, and Moon Fight. Music is something that just flows through me, and by the Gods Castlevania has some masterpieces.

Glad to hear your daughter is doing much better as well!

Thanks for the words of well-wishing on my family. We certainly appreciate it!

As far as Castlevania is concerned, Bloody Tears is a classic track. You really can't have Castlevania without it.

But I have to admit, I'm really partial to Simon's Theme (from Castlevania IV) and Annex Silent Madness (from Castlevania 64/Legacy of Darkness). Castlevania: Curse of Darkness had some pretty amazing tracks, as well, especially Eneomaos Machine Tower.

I've often felt that Castlevania was underappreciated as a game series, if only from the musical standpoint.

Re: How Was Your Day?

...Dear lord, Eneomaos Machine Tower is just an epic beauty. Can a person hire a poet to express how lovely a song is? Truly it took my breath away with its...everything.

Annex Silent Madness is also magnificent beyond levels of my expression. There's so much depth within it; ominous and dark to keep you on edge, playful and taunting but not too much so.

Seriously how could a series have such gorgeous music and not be obtaining recognition for it every other year? I'm beating myself up for never picking up the game in my youth, it's just glorious. Then again, music makes my gaming experience so it is more of a subjective point. But, but the music...!

Re: How Was Your Day?

Managed to get back to playing the piano. Hope to play the piano often.

Re: How Was Your Day?

Almost every morning this week I have the high school dream. Where I'm back as an adult, and I'm hiding so people don't realize I am an adult that has renrolled just so i can see my cute teacher every day again. :tomgirl:

Re: How Was Your Day?

Awful. Wanna die.

Physical Education is a wonderful reminder on how worthless I am at ~50 different things, that I am untalented and why I should kill myself. And I'm actually trying to not suck yet I still fail.

And no, it's not the teacher.

Re: How Was Your Day?

Pretty good for just a normal day.

A financial aid card came in through the mail today. My friend who's on it says if I applied, there may be a chance that I could either A. receive some money from the college to aid me financially (of course) or B. receive a refund for whatever reason. Registered it and am keeping it in my wallet just in case one of those things happens. Also paid off half of my tuition today.

In psychology, we were assigned an essay about ethnic pride. It's not about our opinions on it, we have to write all the wonderful things about our ethnicity (I hope the teacher is ready to read 500 pages about why enchiladas kick ass). I'm... not entirely sure where this is going, but hey, I love writing, and it's only a page long. My book for the class came in yesterday. I'm still waiting on one last book that I was supposed to have by last Thursday. Tomorrow, we're going to discuss fundamentals of Texas government, and in history, we're gonna get grouped up and write up an oral report on the subject of our choosing from the 17th century. Got something about the bill of rights due on Saturday, and still no word of anything going on in government.

Met up with my friend again today, but we didn't spend two hours talking this time. Just sort of walked with him to the parking lot because I had to go pick up a prescription for my dad. Got all of that done, but then the unthinkable happened. I was talking with my friend about food, I was listening to country music, and I didn't have anything for breakfast. Burger madness had taken over my body. It set me back in my finances, but I think I should be getting more money soon, so I shouldn't be worrying about that. In a few weeks, I'll be able to afford an acoustic guitar that I've been saving for for quite some time. After that, any money that comes in, I guess I'll just save up and see what I can get with that. Chances are, though, it'll be going to various restaurants around town. :/ Maybe I should use that money to pick up cooking or something. I can rarely do it because I never have the ingredients, and when I do, the recipe makes more servings than people who'd want to eat it.

That's everything so far. I have about an hour and a half to myself before I gotta go again to fetch my dad from work. Hopefully soon I won't have to do that because we're saving for a new (used) truck.

Re: How Was Your Day?

Had my first Tagalog language quiz. I was pretty nervous and I feel I may have did okay on it. I'm also trying to get help at a math center since I got a math exam coming up and I don''t want to fail it.

Re: How Was Your Day?

I went to a chair yoga class today at the Y. The class was mostly old ladies, but there was a girl who obviously takes her yoga seriously there as well. I was the only JERK in the class. The class meets again on Monday.

It was fun, and I definitely felt like I got a workout, but that might just be because I'm really out of shape. I have a couple of yoga DVD's that I bought last year that I'll have to look at again.

I'm looking forward to other classes as well.

Re: How Was Your Day?

Work was a bit crazy today, since Monday was a holiday here in the US and I was only working a half-day today due to an appointment, so I was a bit stressed out by that. However I had another ultrasound at the appointment and got to see the baby. He or she (we're letting ourselves be surprised) is approximately 4lbs 9oz at this point, which is perfectly healthy. Only a few more weeks! :)

I got my blood test results back; I definitely have breast cancer can start taking the immunomodulator.

Also, I bought some nectarines, 2 salad bags, a mango, and a box of chocolate-covered almonds.
