Re: How Was Your Day?

My day has been rather good. Went to church, cleaned a room in my home and finished Borderlands 2 today. Still waiting to get a call from a Gamestop I'm applying at though. I know it wouldn't be the best job but I'm interested in getting a job close to home, especially since I need to get work to fill in the void of not having a summer semester at college.

Re: How Was Your Day?

Family abducted me to go to the beach that's like... 3 hours away. But after that we went on a hunt for a Korean-style Chinese Restaurant. On our way there, I saw a stripper house named "Hanky Panky". :pickle: :briefs: :tomgirl:

Re: How Was Your Day?

First day back in college since exams and oh my god am I exausted. I accidentally lost a week. I don't know where I put it and its just gone.

Re: How Was Your Day?

All I want to do on my birthday next Thursday is stay at a nice hotel room. I want one with a whirlpool in it, damn those rooms are expensive. I have an interview the following day, so it will be nice to stay somewhere nice the night before, because I know I'm not getting any sleep.

Re: How Was Your Day?

I've had some type of eye infection for the past week or so. I get this weird feeling on the corner of my eyes. Probably allergy. Now, that's annoying, but I also twisted my foot today. Wonderful day, basically.

Re: How Was Your Day?

I was in a funk Monday and Tuesday. I didn't want to do anything, I felt depressed and I had a big headache. I just laid around or slept most of the day.

Yesterday I felt a lot better.

Today I feel back to normal and tonight I'm going out and meeting with a group of French learners and speakers at Panera.

Tomorrow and Saturday I'm going camping, fishing and I'm also shooting my pellet and airsoft guns at the camp.

Re: How Was Your Day?

I moved from Florida because I wanted to be around people more like me, more similar to my person than the bible thumping right-wing southerners.

My company paid for a ticket to the jQuery convention in Portland. I've attended day one, day two is tomorrow. It's made me realize exactly how much I hate people. It's not just the south. All the fucking losers with their massive guts waddling around in overcoats and fedoras. Neckbeards everywhere. Greasy, disgusting hair braided behind them. Even if they weren't physically unappealing, my follow developers were completely full of themselves and could do nothing but boast about their own accomplishments and how good they were compared to their coworkers. I struck up a conversation with a girl next to me. She wasn't dull or unintelligent, but she was uninteresting. She had this mechanical, autistic noise to her voice that reminded me of the Big Bang Theory. At lunch I joined a 7 person table and engaged them in conversation. The guy to my left was 300lb and smelled of BO. One or two had stuff to say, the rest kind of nodded their heads and stared at the speaker. The girl at the table said almost nothing the entire time and knew 2 of the people there. It was pathetic.

Attending the convention I didn't learn that much. Most of the speakers came to voice their concerns of poor practices and to preach the virtues of the latest and greatest MVC, content management tool, publishing service, etc. It felt like a car show or something. Nobody at a car show comes to work on cars, they come to show off how awesome their car is.

I'm really starting to get cynical. I truly feel like a misfit because I don't understand people and I don't enjoy the things that they do. It's weird. Everyone there seemed like a robot trying to make themselves stand out with their over the top clothing as opposed to just being a real person with emotions and higher thought that wasn't feigned.

Your gripes sound closer to the software developer community than your community in general. Really, you've ran the gamut of at least a plurality of people I've met in this field. A lot of socially awkward, heavyset, unkempt people.

Most often though I've run into the "awkward". Like you can't pin what it is about them that's strange but, like Potter Stewart, you know it when you see it. Some of my friends are the "awkward". One put a bunch of "buzzwords" in his resume and explicitly spelled out they were there for "buzzword compliance", as if potential employers were automatons that threw out anything that didn't have "cloud" and "SaaS" just randomly dropped in a pile at the end of the file.

Hope it doesn't result in [cwc]heterochromia[/cwc]! ;)

Re: How Was Your Day?

Went to the library here for the second time (after I got my library card a couple months ago), crowds were insane, but I got some nice reading material (all of Richard Dawkins' books but The God Illusion, which came from Denver with me and came from a Goodwill there), picked up 2 7-Eleven $5 pizzas for me and my roommates on my way home, and I may be getting my own apartment and buying out of this lease later this year. (1-bedroom or studio)

Re: How Was Your Day?

It's father's day! And what better way to celebrate dad than getting fat?

Unfortunately, none of us have presents, and that really sucks because we all love my dad. I can't recall what we did on mother's day (I think my grandparents came over and that was it), but today's shaping up to be much better! I woke up and immediately showered (yesterday I had to go to the store first thing in the morning without a shower and I felt awful), then my dad told me to go to the store to get a brisket. We also had potato salad prepared last night, and I'm dying to get some of that. Brisket and potato salad is seriously the best combination ever. So I got to feel like a man and pick which brisket we're gonna eat. Nothing grandiose, but nothing microscopic either. I got the one with the least fat on it for the lowest price. I wanted to go home and start the fire and at least trim the fat off, but my dad had that covered. I guess when I have my own place, I'll be able to make a big meal and give him a break. My sisters also want to make a chocolate pie, so we went and got the ingredients for that. To at least make him feel somewhat significant, we bought the stuff we really didn't need with our own money (things like taffy and beef jerky). So now everyone's in the kitchen doing something, and it feels magnificent. I wonder if my grandparents are gonna show up. Part of me is hoping they don't because the dining room is still a wreck. Maybe I should clear everything out of the way and mop the floors if no one else is gonna do it.

Re: How Was Your Day?

So I've had to have my wisdom teeth removed and they had severely hooked roots, cos my body's a dick like that. It's now a few days after the last extraction and the pain is still ridiculous... That is all I have to say on anything apart from CUNTING CUNTING CUNTS!

Re: How Was Your Day?

wow, that sucks, I was drugged on pain medications for a while because this one tooth I had was conjoined (as in two teeth fused together which according to my oral surgeon is extremely rare) and in a really awkward position. Are you on any pain medication?

Re: How Was Your Day?

Went to Goodwill, found a duplicate of Chris-chan's 1996 Olympics mascot plushie and bought it to show this forum what the Izzy character looked like, found a weird 1930s or 1940s yellow birch wood speaker and passed on it because of wiring condition, saw 2 asspies and 4 or 5 potential hoarders in there and 6 Ford Aerostars (only one colored like the Chandlers') in the parking lot, which is shared with a Wal-Mart, a sporting goods store, a supermarket and numerous smaller stores. Drank a 40 of Steel Reserve shortly after getting home and shooting a pic of Izzy next to my chair with my new phone's shitty camera & posting it. Had a baked potato with chili and aerosol cheese on it for dinner, now who knows what will happen.

Re: How Was Your Day?

Today I finished a video game. It's just a shitty ripoff of Sega Swirl that you can play on your Genesis if you had a flashcart and a makefile that didn't mysteriously shove the ROM header in the middle of the file.

Before you ask, 8- and 16-bit console homebrew is a decently sized community. I'm far from the only nut to waste his Sunday finishing up a game nobody will ever play on hardware that is no longer produced.

Re: How Was Your Day?

I found out the pufferfish ate the shrimp I just bought to clean the tank.
I love them, but they're little fin nipping, shrimp eating bastards.
(Yeah I was sort of expecting it to happen but I'd hope they would have ignored them.)

That sounds seriously painful.

Nothing prescribed just recommended paracetamol and ibuprofen taken in cycles. But they've given me another appointment for tomorrow so hopefully it should be sorted then.

Re: How Was Your Day?

I had an absolutely horrible night's sleep. I didn't fall asleep until sometime after 5:30 in the morning. Hell, I even dreamed that I couldn't get to sleep, I had these huge bags under my eyes.
