I missing something with the shield or is it a meme build thing?

It is a meme build thing. You can use it on difficulty 10 and not completely ruin the mission, but You need a good grasp on how all the enemies work to get away with it, you also need a melee weapon like the stun lance to really make it shine.

In my regular non shield based builds I run medium armor all the time on bugs and squiggers difficulty 10 and that is the sweet spot for mobility and and health. For bots I run light scout armor because if you get hit with almost anything they have if it doesn't instantly kill you it will rag doll you guaranteeing that the next five salvos hit and kill you regardless of how much health you have.

The directional shield is good for one-handed builds since it can tank projectiles for the user and whoever is behind the user and also regenerate; it can't protect against melee attacks at all. The ballistic shield backpack can tank both attack types at the cost of no regen, making it useless outside of melee builds. It also shields your back when not in use. The shield generator pack dwarfs the others by having no weapon restrictions, tanking all damage types, 360-degree protection, and also regenerating.

Nope, shields don't take up the third weapon slot, just the back slot.

Would it be too overpowered to have a guard dog that acted like a point defense drone? Where it would shoot lasers at projectiles coming near you and delete them. A downside being if teammates shot near you it would just eat whatever they threw out. Alternatively have it lose charge quickly so it has to return to the backpack often.

I just figured out the Amendment has a 3 round burst. It also shoots incredibly flat. The bayonet gets boosted by the ceremonial armor, and the slower reload speed as well.

I've been using it vs bugs in jungle terrain, where you can maneuver around to not get swarmed. You can pick off the medium bugs, then stab through half a dozen smaller ones that closed the difference. I finally "get" what they were going for with the warbond combo, this is a pretty cool way to play if you can avoid getting swarmed.

I would actually suggest a Q-cannon or E.A.T. instead of the recoilless, they perform the same tasks, and you can carry a backpack (jump pack) with it. Recoiless really only benefits duos who have a lot of synergy to pull off the team reload. If you are reloading solo, you miss a lot of repositioning time to reload, the Q-cannon does it passively meaning you can pull hit and runs.

I run light on everything but automatons. Maybe it's a squad or skill issue of some sort, but I feel like no amount of light armor can guarantee you don't get hit by a surprise factory strider or cannons. I try my absolute hardest to play engagements fast and safe, if something happens I do not like I tend to leave immediately to prevent a snowballing effect of them just calling backup, creating an impossible to one man army. They always manage to hit me somehow, I run whatever armor sets has "democracy protects" to attempt to luck my way out of fatal explosions, ragdolls, etc. now.

People have talked about gas before in this thread, finally got around to hard grinding for super credits and the gas drone is insane for bugs, definitely my new favorite, I swear combining the fire and gas damage just causes Chargers not only to fuck off, but die insanely fast if they don't. With normal guard dog duties done better, high rank bugs actually feels playable now for someone that used to struggle a lot with them

Try the grenades. Throw them on a breach and it makes them go nuts and kills the ankle biters outright. Also if you’re being chased by bugs or voteless the gas grenade cloud breaks aggro. Best grenade there is. Toss it at your feet while kiting and you won’t need to keep kiting for long.

I'm not even trying to troll and make people angry tbh, I just thought it was funny and works thematically on multiple levels. I regularly do shitpost RP at the end of games or on the ship. And team killing is fair play when shitposting as far as I'm concerned.

Game wise I got a convoy for the second time ever and they should really expand on the concept. Setting up an ambush and working as a team on a combat objective (as opposed to console/outpost objectives) is really rewarding, and a great opportunity to go all out with combined firepower.

Grenade launcher + supply backpack = ultimate freedom. Explosions are the best way to express your love of democracy. Anything else is just a support weapon for the true primary - the grenade launcher.
