The community Helldivers 2 has is the community Arrowhead has fostered from the start. Arrogant, hostile to criticism, and self assured in their own correctness

Not gonna lie, if I got a bunch of calls that my employee "harassed" a bunch of game devs, I'm calling him or her into my office and we're going to laugh at the seething calls

Not buying it whatsoever. Even if the redditards bombing his workplace did accuse him of actual crimes, an employee of seven years isn't getting fired on the spot because of that. There would be some kind of investigation, and he would ultimately keep his job due to the over-the-phone accusations being found fake and gay. Just like this story.

I don't know which janny edited my other post for reddit spacing, but here's some more for you to clean up for free.
Yes, in a sane world that would make sense. However, these are redditors. They probably said he was calling people niggers, probably said he diddled 4 year olds, shit like that. I guarantee it wasn't "he was mean to the millionaire devs online". Once the ultimate taboo of a white man saying nigger is levied it's all over.

Also the community is full of whack-jobs and even the few low tier randoms I've played with we're fine but god damn you start going above d5 and the expectations start going to "you fuck up I'm kicking you once". Like holy shit chill out.
Left 4 Dead is like this too. People taking coop games too seriously are the worst

I know very little about this game, but it doesn't seem like he stipulated anything about bad weapons, it seems more like he's saying the hardest difficulty is literally impossible.
There was a second guy that said he'd also put in another $1000 if they used a specific (weak) loadout for the challenge.

But don't demand that D10 be simplified or dumbed down because you demand to play at the highest difficulty and being unable to do so without mic/coordination/meta strategems is some sort of insult or bad design. This happens constantly when the reddit gamerdad battalion is activated.
I think this is arguable. In Deep Rock Galactic if you casual out at 1 or 2, you still encounter every enemy type, including rare bosses like the Korlok Vine or the giant gold exploders. Higher difficulty just strains your team comp and builds by making you control ammo and time spent via more intense waves and spawns, and armor/health modifiers. Helldivers completely cuts off the majority of enemy types if you play on 1 or 2, you basically aren't even playing the same game because you just fight stock grunts or occasionally a guy with a shield.

I remember something similar happened to Dead by Daylight where they made a dev play against some bullshit strat/character.
He got completely raped into submission, on camera, by something he had stated was fine before. The humiliation was so great they finally issued some nerfs afterwards.
We could've had this in Helldivers but redditors are subhuman niggercattle as always.
A little niche, but in Guild Wars 2 (an MMO like World of Warcraft) the devs pushed an update a while ago that made basically half the game classes unplayable as healers/supports

The community complained enough (even people that were usually silent on social media like big raid guild leaders) that it was common to see Arenanet (the game developers had unique names and were easy to spot) employees going into the training area with the bad classes for like 2 weeks then the game got fixed so that everyone could actually do their job again.

Bullying game devs to play their game isn't bullying, it's just forcing them to actually do QA for their own game.

>some anonymous schizophrenic can call your workplace and say you did something about a game on the internet and you will be fired the same week without cause
do americans really
They probably called his workplace and said he belonged to Nazi groups or something.

It goes the other way too, you never see Scout Striders or Obliterator Hulks in high difficulties. Or even Reinforced Scout Striders at all, they're all replaced with War Striders. I'm not saying the way Arrowhead implements difficulty by culling enemy variety is good (it's dogshit) but more so the philosophy that the highest difficulty should somehow be accessible to everyone at any mental state and loadout no matter what.

Again, he's not gonna get fired from the electric company or any other reputable workplace - especially after seven years - just because a bunch of randoms called them up out of the blue and made a bunch of accusations. They would investigate, and then he would be fine because it would prove to be bullshit.

I wish it were that easy for people to get fired. I've had front row seats to some absolute retards who nobody likes and are an obvious hindrance in the workplace - they suck at what they're actually being paid to do, never mind whatever unsavory shit they may get up to off theh clock - either never get fired or take way way too long to get fired, because HR always has to build a heckin caserino first and that takes an eternity for some reason.

Brother, simply the fact that he drew that much attention to himself and he indirectly got the workplace involved with it is enough for companies to terminate you. They can terminate you any time for any reason they deem fit, it's in pretty much every employment contract ever printed. If you aren't unionized then your ass is grass, and even then unions will throw you under the bus sometimes. I think it's beyond pathetic that the mob harassed his place of employment though, and this guy didn't deserve to get fired, but the world is a very unfair place.

I hope someone reached out to the guy and helped him out somehow. Must fucking suck to lose a job of 7 years just because some retards on reddit took things way too seriously.

I would imagine, if the guy isn't lying, that he was on already shaky ground with both places if what it tooks was a few phone calls. As insane the chimpout is, putting $1k to get game devs to balance vidya isn't necessarily normal; also curious what the posting history was, weird to "step down from reddit" like a corporate position.

Anyway, fuck vidya. People have been getting more and more insane for them last few years. I stopped with online games back when Lethal Company got players to "ironically" enslave themselves, to a fictional company, and enforce against each other for not roleplaying correctly.

It's all imaginary play, grown men, imaginary play. Often very ideological.
