This is outright terrible holy fuck. Burrowing Terminids that become invincible until they are right on top of you and get a free hit in is an obvious demonstration that Arrowhead has no idea what makes anything in their game work. Illuminates aren't a fluke, they're the future. Automatons is next.
They have always favored a masochistic play style and only make it fun after massive audience backlash

I have to agree this new hive world gameplay is downright awful. I don't have an issue with the current illuminate but with the way these burrowing bugs work its not at all great for random team-play. Maybe for coordinated teams its fine but for regular matchmaking its absolutely terrible. You can't even mark a bug when theyre going and digging underground. So you can't warn anyone else either.

The only saving grace is that it seems like bugs that can dig underground have less health than other ones. But that doesn't really help. Also going into tunnels is absolute cancer with random teams. Nobody sticks together. Nobody prioritizes more dangerous bugs. And nobody can figure out where the objectives are in the tunnels. I'm sure it will get better but a massive balance patch will need to be introduced.

I implore you to try difficulty 10. It's a 24/7 clusterfuck of at least 10 bugs on you at any given time. There is no room for coordination or strategy. It's entirely reactionary until you run out of lives or die from being unable to see from the tears in your eyes laughing so hard you can't breathe.

It's what I started on. I switched to 7 which is my fallback difficulty for when I don't want to try as hard. It's not much better. It's a serious issue that needs to be addressed. It's crazy because I was doing 10s on Hellmire with absolutely no problem yesterday.

For reference I'm purple and I have about 260 hours in the game. This is how my average bug game went. Hive worlds have completely fucked that over. I don't think people with higher playtime or level would be having a better time unless they were playing with a dedicated team. I already have all the upgrades and strategems that are available. This might actually convince me to find a group of people to play with, or just wait for a balance fix.

It really is impressive how every Zogdiver subreddit is stuffed to the gills with the most insufferable faggots possible. People actually had to split off and create r/lowsodiumhelldivers because the cock-gargling sycophants in the main sub were still too toxic somehow.
To be fair I don't mind people simping over the hive lord. It's a cool enemy. And should be hard to kill. Something like a automaton fortress or an illuminate ship boarding mission would be great too. A dedicated objective mission for it on diff 8-9 or above would probably help a ton. But right now enemy balance is completely fucked on the hive world.

I mean if we're staying in line with the HL the other factions getting their old bosses from 1 might be cool.

The Great Eye and the Siege Mech making a return on their respective faction core worlds could be fun if implemented well.

This shit is so fucking ass, and all the Reddit ballwashers should be gunned down for the amount of gargling they're doing. The spawn rates are FUCKED. The new enemies are FUCKED. My team experienced a catastrophic desync from the host that created a parallel fucking reality for 5/10 minutes in the match. Hellpods aren't landing where they're called. THREE OR FOUR STALKER NESTS per cave system? Glorious Swedish coding strikes again!

Just hire a dedicated team to work on optimization and bugfixes. Dripfeeding fixes and breaking the spear once a month isn't working.

There's gotta be enough starving fuckers in sweden that you can find 10-20 who would actually fix shit around the clock.

Performance issues and spawn rates aside, I found the weakness to the rupture units: explosives.
I ran a purifier and while it's dicey to shoot it full charge point blank, I was able to kill them while they were still underground. So a grenade launcher or explosive weaponry (maybe not an Eruptor, possibly too intense for caves) can deal with them.

Of course this doesn't matter when 6 of them are coming from all sides.

I found r/lowsodiumhelldivers to actually be helpful. They do offer constructive criticism as well as tips as how to deal with new enemy types. I never would have considered using the auto cannon on bugs until now.

As an Xbox guy (and newfag to the game) it's so funny coming into this game and realizing that the Sony side has the same development problems as Sea of Thieves, Forza Horizon, Halo, etc.

I don't hate the idea of caves, but it looks like they failed to give players variety. Because most stratagems are useless it's going to get very stale very fast. I did enjoy being ammo guy and handing out fill-ups to my team. That was until servers shit the bed and disconnected us from the game (or maybe the host crashed and it failed to migrate to new host? Still figuring out how this game works).

With how buggy the recent patch is, I have to wonder if the rupture bugs are actually supposed to be light armor and not medium. Everything about their design is strange. While burrowed, they are very quiet, fast, if not faster than normal, invulnerable to everything except explosives, and have medium armor on top of it. I'm not quite sure what the design philosophy was with them, but I feel like they did not think about how these enemies would fit into the roster, let alone playtest them.

I think they need to either slow them down while burrowed by a large margin, give them light armor instead, or maybe have them stick out of the ground a little, as if they were sharks.

The burrowing chargers actually have anti tank level armor on their heads instead of heavy like the normal variants, even the tougher behemoth chargers. Not to mention just how janky and broken the burrowing enemies are entirely. I've killed the same bug 4 or 5 times because its corpse just reburrows and emerges again as a brand new bug. Or the burrowing spewers that outright ignore stun unlike normal ones that get interrupted in their attacks. Better yet is the Bile Dragon or whatever stupid shit they're calling it. Bile Titans add much needed pressure that cooperates really nicely with the rest of the Terminid roster. Bile Dragons meanwhile have such an unpredictable attack, such massive AOE, and such inconsistent damage output that there is no real way to actually fight them. You'll just randomly light on fire, watch as they instantaneously rotate 90 degrees to strafe you when you weren't even in their flight path, and without a warp pack you're entirely shit out of luck and even then you can't consistently dodge the attacks. Either it totally misses and you die instantly or you get totally direct hit and nothing happens to you. They didn't even learn from the attempt at choreography that the Interloper has. Can't wait for the Automaton's version of a Leviathan that has 12 bunker guns mounted to the underside and a built in strategem jammer.

I like that's it's difficult and less "just toss a 500kg/120 at it" but I hate how glitchy everything else.

Bile Dragons sound awful(they don't actually sound like anything because who needs sound mixing) and the attack doesn't line up with the actual hitbox
Hive lords feel like leviathans where you just ignore them and go into a cave instead.
The escort mission stinks and is genuinely the worst thing Arrowhead has done.
Hate the cave holes mechanic because 60% of the time my called in strategems either de spawned, hit some nanometer of cave and deployed out of reach
Pelicans indoors are extremely buggy
I still want a flare item so that I can actually see what I'm doing in the caves, flashlights are awful and not available on all guns.

Caves would be awesome if I could provide some form of lighting. It's been so long where I've just been playing the game on autopilot, going off on my own and doing objectives because nothing can actually pose a threat I can't strafing run. Caves feel like an entirely different game - albeit a poorly coded/designed one shoehorned into HD2 - and I like it a lot.

Well, I played a few rounds tonight on the new update and it was pure misery. The burrowing fuckers combined with your typical clueless bugdivers made the five missions I played a slog, and I went down to d7 from normally playing bugs on d10. Common Arrowhead L. Guess I’ll come back in a few months to see if they fixed the fun factor.

Cavediving is actually pretty fun on impossible, it's completely unplayable on super helldive though.

I've mentioned before how lucky I am to not have to play the game with Redditors but that still sucked ass for us trying to coordinate loadouts. Only 3 of us could hop on so we tried 7, which is usually our default when we don't want to bash our heads against a wall with 3 of us and the amount of enemies easily felt like 9 or 10. The burrowing warrior is horseshit. He's pretty much just a demand for a wasted stim since he's going to break a limb when he emerges and requires medium pen. Even trying to stick together, the amount of enemies was insane and we constantly got split up having to revive each other and attempt to find our way back to the shitshow. Best thing we've found so far is if you can get a breach to happen near an opening, have someone bring the fire orbital with them and pray that shit lands where you actually called it to clean that up quickly. My fire orbital and my buddies mg turret managed to clean up 3 or 4 bug breaches through the ceiling. Exosuits are also S tier for this. Follow the guy in the suit to keep the faggots from breaking his arms and let him close up bug holes and the 8 billion stalker layers. Definitely need some sort of flare option as mentioned above, would be really nice to be able to use an infinite ammo primary like the Sickle without feeling like I'm hurting my team since I'm not allowed to have a flashlight on it.
