With this new set and the rotation I'm actually having fun playing again. Don't know how long that will last.... but for now it's been pretty fun.

Yeah. The meta is slow enough that you can play those fun high-cost cards that would never have seen play before the rotation. Its the perfect time to try out weird new deck archetypes before everything shifts back to a turn 7 OTK net deck meta.

Any updated tier list out there? currently I am using this one https://gameskeys.net/hearthstone-arena-tier-list/ but it seems pretty outdated any help guys?

The pre-patch just hit yesterday and I don't envision a big change in the meta until Outland releases on the 7th. With the exception of Priest decks, any tier list made at the beginning of the month should still be good now through the 7th.

I gave up during the gilnean expac, I just can't keep up.

Un'goro and the paladin squire swarming really soured it for me before that though. I think there was a rogue weapon deck in vogue that I hated too.

Yeah, there were a lot of unfun one turn kill decks in that meta. I like Hearthstone when there's a lot of give and take during matches. Metas that focus too much on OTKs or late game value drag down the game. Unfortunately, it looks like the upcoming meta is going to bring back OTKs big time.

I've only been half paying attention to Hearthstone for the last few months, but apparently Blizzard just eliminated all gold rewards from daily quests and replaced them with a SECOND paid battlepass to the game.

Wait what? Holy shit. I am glad I quit playing Hearthstone last year and never sunk any money into this game.

Found this on CDAN of all places.

This A list gaming company which is a merger of two big companies has a patent in which their match making services (traditionally random based on certain parameters) can be rigged in order to influence in game purchases. If one reads between the lines, this implies that all random events in their games are determined server side.

The ramifications of said patent were present for all to see at the online collectible card game world championship in 2019. In said tournament, the company fully rigged random results left and right in order to obtain political favor with China. This incident occurred within a few weeks after the company banned multiple players for speaking out against Chinese oppression of Hong Kong.

Examples of rigged events on behalf of the Chinese player included always having certain key cards in her hand by X turn, always going second when playing a deck that greatly benefits from going second, or random results from cards played always swinging significantly in her favor.

Many people who watched the live stream of the event suspected the fix was in, but had no proof. It is unknown if the player herself was in on it (assuming no due to innocent until proven guilty).

This is potentially the worst scandal in esports history.

Title: System and method for driving microtransactions in multiplayer video games

Has those changes put HS to Artifact-levels of charging for everything yet?

And you would think that given how the monetization changes to HS really pissed off the fanbase, why WotC or Valve haven't pushed hard on the advertising for MTG Arena/Artifact, to try to draw in those disgruntled HS players.

No. Mostly they paywalled the in-game rewards that already existed and added tons of new 'limited edition' cosmetics. The new arena mode is paywalled, but arena has always been paywalled so.. eh.

Also its pretty laughable that they added five new Jaina hero avatars*, but the one Jaina avatar people actually want is not among them.

*Previously hearthstone added new heroes from Warcraft lore. Recently, however, they started adding alternate portraits of existing heroes because Blizz doesn't have to pay for new voice acting.

Things have only gotten worse.

In addition to the two PAID seasonal Battle Passes*, Card Packs, Adventures, Arena Tickets and Cosmetics, Blizzard has added:

-Pre-Made Decks that can be purchased
-Mid-Expansion mini-expansions with cards that can only be purchased in a bundle and cannot be found in packs
-A new mercenaries mode in which you buy the heroes and also buy the currency that makes them stronger. You can buy packs and earn heroes/currency by playing the mode, but the strongest heroes are basically impossible to get without paying out real money (aka pay-to-win)

The quests that reward experience for gold (aka, the play for free model) are often locked behind pay-to-win game modes.

Its impossible to defend this shit anymore.

*the Battlegrounds Battle Pass is pay-to-win

-Mid-Expansion mini-expansions with cards that can only be purchased in a bundle and cannot be found in packs
Wasn't that already< in the game? The adventures that were themed to the latest expansion and you had to pay for hte chapters that followed the free one? And you could get specific carss from that adventures and not from card packs.

Didnt even know this game was still a thing. Stopped playing for good after the Galakrond trilogy, it just wasnt fun anymore and I heard it only got worse. I'm curious to know how it is doing numbers wise.

Last I heard HS YT channels had basically no growth and the biggest HS channel of them all, Kripparian, was still slowly bleeding subs.

EDIT: Also holy shit just checked and the power creep has gotten insane these last expansions

In regards to HS YT channel stagnation, have YT channels for other competition card games gone up? Artifact is dead, MTG Arena hasn't had the big boom effect that WOTC wanted, and I can't think of anything else.

Reynad's videos started suddenly popping up on my feed again and after not playing for 10 years (effectively stopped when Mysterious Challenger pally was meta and installed for like a week in 2020 when librams were added apparently because I had Yrel, Liadrin and other cards crafted) I decided to giver HS a burl again, and holy shit the amount of stuff they changed over the years. Tirion is now 8/8, Consecration and Hammer of Wrath are 3 mana, Guardian of Kings is a 5/7 with taunt, Argent Protector is a 3/2, Lay on Hands is 6 mana, Warhorse trainer is a 3/4, gives tokens +2 attack and taunt... I don't care for the meta, especially a "randomly" recommended video of Kibler explained in detail how Standard is apparently an unplayable pile of misery.
Good thing arena runs are now shorter with a maximum amount of 5 wins or 2 losses. Might be a decent enough idle time sink. Already managed to win a few ranked games with the standard midrange deck I've last used in 2014 or 2013.

I also just got a random Hearthstone streamer in my recommended list and was surprised this game is still a thing. I don't remember the names of expansions, but I started playing maybe 2 or 3 expansions in, a couple months before they split standard and wild, and finally quit for good around the expansion that was just a rip off of Hogwarts before they added the battle pass. It was also around the time they either nerfed or rotated out Leeroy Jenkins and Demon Hunter got it's 5th or 6th nerf in less than a year of coming out that was the last straw. I remember I could never hit the legend ranks until after Demon Hunter became a thing then one month I hit legend for standard and wild in NA, EU, and I think I got to at least rank5 on Asia server all with aggro DH. It had some fun moments but I'd never go back to playing again, I can't even imagine how much more of a clusterfuck it is now after 4-5 years of not playing. I wish Gwent didn't die completely or that CDPR could actually manage a live, multiplayer game and update it without breaking everything.
