Based. The only thing better than a pump shotgun is a semi auto shotgun, could've gone for both arms.

Totally agree, nothing beats a shotgun for home/business defense. It's harder to miss with one than a rifle, which is really important since almost everyone's aim goes down the toilet once the adrenaline starts pumping. You're also way less likely to accidentally seriously injure or even hit an innocent person on the other side of a wall or whatever since the travel distance and penetration power is way lower than that of a rifle. And finally, the sound of a shotgun being chambered is a very distinct and recognizable sound that will send anyone with two brain cells to rub together running, potentially avoiding a shootout altogether.

Don't get me wrong, I love rifles, but back when the riots were going on it was a shotgun that I kept nearby.

Undeniable proof to why the 2nd amendment is absolutely necessary. Based on the guns the perps had, it was shit no Commiefornian is supposed to have. And yet they do.

Then you got the store owner who had a shotgun. It took one of the goons getting fucked to teach the rest to run. That is a success. The rest got to go home with their parts intact.

The whole altercation happened within SECONDS. Cops by average takes 15-30 minutes to arrive at scene and god knows of these "youths" would have done something horrible to that man had he not been armed.

But damn commie leaders are gonna lionize the robber and get the owner fucked. This damned backwater state.

Norco is in Riverside County, which isn't pozzed like LA County is. The robber pointed a large weapon at the owner, so charging the owner with anything would just be inane.

I just looked it up and Norco voted 66% Trump, 30% Biden in 2020. LOL At least not every city in California bleeds blue.

It's not Canada (or any other Anglo country for that matter), so I'm sure the owner can just rightfully claim it was self-defense and won't get in any trouble for this.
You're right it's California.

The store owner will be found not guilty by a jury of his peers but the judge will say guilty anyways and THEN have all his assets forfeited to the robber and also the robber's wife Judge-with-a-wig. Also a 200k fine somewhere. Tax Deductible.

Also something something disarmed.

While shotguns are great, it's all about the load. #1 buck, if you can get it, is best for home defense, 00 buck will laugh at sheetrock. Fudd lore is mostly correct, but 00 is no joke and it can and will overpenetrate. We're actually pretty lucky that mass shooters don't love shotguns more, something like a Vepr or Beretta 1301 with someone who can use them halfway decently would be brutal at the ranges they typical operate at.

"harder to miss..." Fuddlore... You might get a couple of inches of spread with buckshot at home defense ranges, a long shot down the hallway from my bedroom to the front door is about 45' and I've seen shot patterns around 3ish inches at that distance on the range. Paul Harrell did a few good videos on birdshot for home defense it but I am unconvinced on that and shotguns for home defense in general. They are generally more unwieldy than a rifle or pistol, are definitely harder to aim sans optic than a rifle with irons or a pistol with night sights, and follow up shots are harder with heavier loads due to recoil. For me, a semi auto intermediate cartridge rifle that is as short as you can legally manage, with a red dot or reflex optic is the recommended choice. Easier to shoot well, easier to follow up, easier to handle indoors.

Good shot on this shopkeep's part, one shot and the guy was out of there. Hopefully the fact that he didn't kill the scumbag keeps him from winding up with too much PTSD over the event, assuming he isn't some hardened combat vet who already has it or wishes he had killed the guy.

RIP, we need more people like him.

NORCO, Calif. (AP) — An 80-year-old Southern California liquor store owner who opened fire with a shotgun and wounded a would-be armed robber this summer has died, the store reported Tuesday.

Craig Cope died Tuesday morning, and a memorial at Norco Market & Liquor will be held at a later date, according to a Facebook post. It didn’t mention a cause of death.

Cope was alone at the counter shortly before 3 a.m. on July 31 in Norco in Riverside County when a man in a ski mask came through the door, pointing a rifle and demanding: “Hands in the air! Hands in the air!” Surveillance video shows Cope firing one blast from the shotgun.

The gunman fled. Surveillance cameras outside the store caught him screaming “He shot my arm off, he shot my arm off!” as he got into a car and was driven away.

“I didn’t have time to be afraid” after the car with four robbers pulled into the parking lot, and some got out wearing masks and gloves and holding weapons, Cope told KTTV-TV.

One robber came through the door with what Cope said appeared to be a semiautomatic rifle.

“The guy pointed the gun directly at me. It was him or me,” Cope told the station.

Four men were later arrested at a hospital where the wounded suspect was being treated. The getaway car had been stolen in Las Vegas and contained stolen weapons, authorities said.

Cope was commended by the Sheriff’s Department. Video of the shooting made him a celebrity. People flocked to the store to photograph and congratulate him and to buy items, including a T-shirt with the slogan “Don’t Mess with Norco, We’ll shoot your arm off,” KABC-TV reported.

Cope had owned the store since 1976. After the shooting, he suffered a heart attack but recovered and returned to work before having a disabling stroke in October.
