remember Sealab 2021?

I almost want to see that with heman.

Like to troll everyone just have 5 episode of adam, skelitor and crew just talk to eachother about dumb shit.

Honestly, if they wanted to do a Sealab style parody with He-Man, I would have liked that way more.

Son of Zorn, a quickly cancelled show on Fox a few years back, had potential but didn't quite get there and was cancelled before it could improve.

The points made about “i’m such a neerrrd” and “I’m a big fan” are valid. Always sense when you’re being pandered to.

They should bring him back and do space ghost thing but with similar characters. Jem, the Transformers, etc.

The Harvey birdman spinoff is missing the Hanna Barbera characters

I was under the impression Rowling merely said Hermione could be black, as in could be played by a black actress in the play, rather than she canonically was black. As written in the books I know there's at least one reference that explicitly describes her as white, so technically she is definitively white, but I can see her being played by a black actress and it not being that big a deal. But only if they kept her negative characteristics along with the positive ones.

Of course, when they remake the Harry Potter franchise, expect the Weasleys to all be black.
rowling also said a lot of dumb shit over the years, like dumbledore being gay, wizards don't know what toilets are and other nuggets. hermione being black (which iirc only came up after some local literally who stage play blackwashed her) is just more of the same. however she got on the trans-folx shitlist by not budging on certain points (and I think even having a crossdressing villain in a book), so in the end she's a dumb progressive saying shit for sales but not a retarded one for twitter clout.

hermione itself from what I remember was described as a pasty horse-faced redhead, so basically your average anglo genes, which ironically she fixed via magic later. always found that bit hilarious because you could interpret it that girls need to be hot to get a guy. or it was meant as a lopsided "improve yourself and work on your looks" 90's grrl power message, who knows.

That's why you don't get a big-name actor to do it - see Sylvester Stallone as Judge Dredd and them having to remove his helmet to accommodate such a big star at the time playing the role. No, considering they cast Henry Golding (probably the biggest non-martial arts-based Asian actor currently going) in the role, it's clear the whole point was to cast an Asian (but not too Asian). That way they can pander to the Asian markets still while hoping to get diversity brownie points that they wouldn't get from the SJWs on Twitter who'd REEEEEEEE at any sign of a white actor being a ninja, no matter what the character's actual background or purpose is. They did the same with Iron Fist, whining about cultural appropriation and the white guy knowing martial arts because they don't give a shit about the characters, they only see things through their extremely limited worldview.
the problem isn't the actor usually but the reason you hire them. stallone was cast for the star power to get asses into the seat and/or the movie getting greenlit, if it came at the cost of taking it's helm off so be it, but at the end you still got an enjoyable movie out of it (ymmv). with all the politically mandated castings it's there to deflect from an already shitty movie or that's where the priorities end, like a videogame with a movie license.

I bet the whole "Skeletor as Master of the Universe" story-arc is going to be either very dull and uneventful or Teela is going to be back on track in mere minutes of the sixth episode. I read too many modern comics with inevitable cliffhangers which always went nowhere... until the next cliffhanger.
Remember when Rick and Morty ended one of its seasons making you think Rick would be stuck in prison for while forced to reflect on the person he is only to be saved by the family he perpetually feels superior to? Only for him to one-man-army his way out in the first five minutes of next season’s opener?

No, because I don't watch that garbage.

That was the moment the show started to lose the plot.

So now comes the harsh question:

Which is worse: MOTU: Revelations or Thundercats Roar?

Its actually harder for me to answer than it should be.

I think Thundercats Roar looks way worse and is made by far less talented people and is more obnoxious to watch (I couldn't even finish the first episode which was only 11 minutes).

However, it didn't lie to me. They advertised shit and we got shit.

Revelations feels like a gigantic slap in the face, and is way more disappointing considering 1) How awesome that first teaser was and 2) The number of talented people attached to it. Look at that voice cast, the composer, and the animation studio....it can't fail, right? But the writing just sank everything and its a damn shame.

So completely spoiled on this by all the discussion but I watched some of it nonetheless.

The art is of a good standard. The voice actors for the most part of pretty good, too. It really is pretty much just the writing that flaws this.

I didn't find it as bad as the outrage merchants have been saying. For example, when Teela flips out at the King and Queen when the news of He-man's death and true identity are revealed, her words are a response to the King just having exiled Man at Arms, her adoptive father for no fault of his own. And she does, seemingly believe that if she had known Adam was He-Man there might have been a different outcome (I'm not sure why). In any case, the criticism are valid but they do strip away little bits of context that make it not quite as bad as they sound. She's still a smug and bitter (weird combo) person for most of the run, though. Similarly, the bit about her deepest fear being how awesome she is, I actually don't think is too bad. They're clearly setting up the arc of her being the daughter of the Sorceress - or was it King Hiss? A hero afraid to embrace the power within them isn't that weird a story beat nor a bad one. The moral of "don't be afraid to stand out or be your best" is one some children need to hear. And He-Man is in it more than just the first episode. There are several flashbacks with him.

But yes, the criticisms are pretty much all valid and this IS the Teela show. It's not quite the woke dumpersterfire Nerdrotic and all that crew are portraying it as. It has good elements. Give He-Man back the sword, bring him back to life, it wouldn't be too bad. Smith needs to stop killing main characters, though.

Just watched Transformers: Kingdom, Netflix’s other 80s reboot. The sixth series made by Rooster Teeth and I’m seriously debating which is worse. Would you rather have a series that is blatantly paused but has names attached to it and other than the writing is generally all right? Or, a basic bitch slapped together lump of mediocrity, using the toy’s CAD models as show models, reeks of New York cheapness, nobody voice actors, weak “fanservice” and just….. pathetic?

For the record, Kingdom is paused. There is a traditionally femme-fatal character who’s a dyke now and there is a literal “we wuz kangz” moment from a black velociraptor. The ape is voiced by a black so that’s nice, hate race-swapping personally and they turn over of the most iconic villains of the 90s into a neckbeard fanboy.

Fucking astounding that we get two large doses of dogshit within two weeks, from the same source no less!

I found the first two chapters/seasons of War for Cybertron to be VERY boring, and including the Beast Wars characters felt like a desperate attempt to get people to care.

I don't remember any politics being injected into it, but I remember fighting to stay awake while watching it. Adding the Beast Wars characters feels like an attempt to make it exciting, which at this point is too little too late.

That’s the weird thing with this new one, it feels very knee-jerk to the fun and games from last year. Though I’ve always had concerns with Floydatron.

When I did a video on the first season, I drew a Handsome Squidward Megatron for the thumbnail. Legit the best thing that came out of that show.
I’m very partial to this meme, looking forward to seeing it completed.

This gay series has given some good shitposting material, like mocking IDWfags over their favourite characters becoming nazi war criminals, Starscream ranting about the “Decepticon Master Race”, calling Ultra Magnus suicidal because of how stupid his plan was, screaming CONSeNUS when a thread agrees on a topic, talking in comment sections how “the series was good but that tentacle rape was wack yo” and the classic “WE ARE NOT DECEPTICONS!”

Hope they do more of these, if they go fully-paused then we’ll have quality TF memes for years to come.

Isn't that the case with everything though?
You can say the same shit about The Last Jedi - everything was great on a technical level but the writing sucked.
All the good things about Hollywood productions are done by nameless nobodies who get paid $50K per year in LA (which is poverty wage there).
The writers, producers and to a lesser extend directors (or not so lesser if it's a writer/director like JJ Abrams) are the ones fucking everything up.

As for the whole controversy:
While I don't think that the old show was any good, this was clearly a case of false advertising.
If you for whatever reason subscribed to the streaming service just for this, you could have a case against the studio.
Regardless of quality, they advertised one thing and delivered another.
Kevin Smith is an ass kissing shill so there was never any doubt that he would act the way he did but now, he has zero credibility, he already had very little because of all he garbage he's directed but now, he has zero.
From now on, his name on a project will be a death sentence.
Good job, Kevin.

Pretty much. I do agree with the people saying Hamil might not have been the best Skeletor choice, he is phoning it in.

I disagree with you on the Randor thing. At no point does Teela defend her father at all there, it's entirely her outrage, her pain which when you're in the same room as parents who lost their child. The King is the only person in that room aside from her not in on it and she completely ignores that. Which if it was presented as her being an asshole would be fine but as is she's presented as the hero throughout.

She's meant to be the daughter of the Sorceress and Man At Arms if memory serves.

The writing stuff could be an easy fix. Teela is basically the warrior who finally has had enough and falls into the bottle/similar refuge rather than fight on. She betrays her post when she is needed most, betrays her kingdom and what she earlier claims is her adopted family and wallows in her personal misery.

It's a relatively easy fix and you could even use the new character everyone is whinging about being a diversity addition to do so. Make her a loyal guard who Teela helps out who shames her into getting her shit back together because oddly enough Eternia without He-Man, the Sorceress, failing magic, exiled Man At Arms and deserter Teela is going badly. Have Teela pretty much apologising to those she abandoned every episode, given how the current version spaces out events, and still getting what she already does, validation that her reaction could be better but it is a human one. She's climbing back up to where the series started her, the massively competent and capable individual.

Bad writing let the thing down not a bad premise or plot.

Yeah. The War for Cybertron Trilogy has been generally disappointing.

The recent Cybertron cartoon was more interesting and that was literally made for children. I got a nostalgiasm when Skybyte appeared.
